Bridal Hair & makeup Cost!!

Nicole , on June 5, 2017 at 9:30 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 45

So I just received my 3rd quote for my bridal hair and makeup and I am shocked at the cost!

All quotes are around the $450 for both hair & MU.. Does this seem to be the norm or is it due to my location (getting married in Whitefish, Montana)?

I am a tad bit freaking out thinking of paying this much but also feel it's a necessity! HELP!

    Here's mine (Minneapolis, MN):

    Hair $110.00

    Makeup $165.00

    Tip $50.00

    Total: $325.00

    Makeup Trial $75.00

    Tip: $15.00

    Total: $90.00

I wasn't too excited either, but I shopped and shopped, and for an experienced wedding HMUA, that's what it was.

I'm sorry. That seems ridiculously high for MT. I'm in Ct and for my trial (hair and makeup with lashes) & day of my price is $300.

@FutureMrsLabrec. Your H&MU look beautiful! I felt so too, but it is western MT. A lot more wealthy of an area... Maybe that has something to do with it? I don't know...

I guess I may just have to bite the bullet on this one :-/

Do your research and even ask your friends if they have any recommendations! I got a friend of a friend and she charged $100 for bridal hair and makeup, $90 each for BP hair and makeup. Luckily I only had 1 MOH, 1 FMIL and my mom that wanted hair and makeup done. I covered it all but it was $370 without tip for the FOUR of us, in So Cal.

Lol my hair/makeup (including trial) is $500. Hair and makeup for my mom and sister is $380. My sister is the only one in my bridal party so we may add my FMIL and pay for her hair and makeup for an additional $190.

This was definitely an expensive vendor I wasn't expecting! I originally budgeted for $500 overall. I'm in Dallas, this was one of the cheapest quotes I was able to find. I contacted 5 companies.

@Gettingmarriedinmay, research has been in the works, hence the several quotes I've received and inquiring on here. I even had a trial (with the lowest quoted MUA) when I visited MT last month, which was HORRIBLE. Asking gf's is not an option for me as I am having a destination wedding in MT. I live in MN. Otherwise, I feel this would be a much easier process as I don't have the opportunity to get to MT again other then a few days before my wedding. I feel I have narrowed it down to one H&MUA. I just wanted to check on what everyone else was experiencing with prices.

@FSTL, thanks for the information. Hearing this makes me feel like my quotes are about right and what I am going to end up spending Smiley smile

Is it airbrush makeup? That pricing is in line with mine... I hate it, but what can you do?!

Is there a salon near where you are staying rather than have someone come to you?

I am paying that much because I'm getting airbrush makeup, which I absolutely want for it's durability... but that pricetag is a bit high for regular makeup. Shop around and see if anyone can do better!

I've been looking in Colorado (not in Denver itself) and pricing is looking like it's between $300 and $500 including trials. I was shocked too!

@NextMrsD, I actually want to stay at the lodge and get ready where our ceremony and reception is being held. This is one thing I don't want to budge on or have to worry about on the day of Smiley smile After hearing what everyone else is getting quoted, I am feeling better and may just be what it's going to cost.

If that includes a trial it seems like a good deal to me. If it doesn't include a trial it's pretty high.

Mine is $300 day of and $300 for the trial, so $600 total.

My day of H/MU was $450 and I'm in NYC. She's the best of the best. If that's the price you're getting the third time around, then that's probably the norm in your area. How experienced are these artists?
