Bridal Buddy: ridiculous or necessary?

Hi everyone! So my wedding is just about 4 months out and I'm starting to wonder about how the heck you use the bathroom in a wedding dress. Although my dress is a-line, it still has more layers and fabric on the bottom than I have ever worn. Has anyone heard of this "Bridal Buddy" product? It's a slip that is put under your dress that helps gather your whole dress above your hips. At first, I thought "That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen" and admittedly, it does look pretty silly, but I wonder... how else do you even pee in such a dress?

You can do the same thing with a large trash bag. Turn the bag upside down and cut a hole, just big enough to put your legs in it, in the bottom seam. In the middle. Once you have he hole, open the bag and place your feet thru the hole. Pull the bag up, containing your dress as you pull it up. Go potty, when you are done you can dispose of the bag. If needed you can use a new one if needed. A box of large outside trash bags is about $10 whereas the brida
buddy is $60. That’s $50 bucks to use on your honeymoon.

I was considering the same thing since the dress I'm looking at getting is a ball gown silhouette and has a chapel train. Let me know if it work!

You can just use a mega garbage bag with a hole in the bottom. Literally does the exact same thing as cost next to nothing.

I was able to pee just fine in a very fluffy trumpet-style skirt. I just took a moment to make sure I had everything gathered, and it took me a few minutes afterward to UN-gather it all, lol!

I hadn't thought about using a bridal buddy. The trash bag method looks like it could work and it would be cheaper.

I just gathered my dress (a-line ball gown), faced the toilet, and squatted.. honestly didn’t need any other help and I was out faster than my husband who went to the bathroom at the same time as me! 😂

I've seen this ad too, but I'm thinking it'll be more of a hastle to have it on than just gather the front of my dress and sit on the toilet backwards.

I also do not want anyone in the bathroom with me! And slipping out of my dress isn't an option when the entire back is buttons.....

Why did I chose a complicated dress?

I would probably just leave a couple trash bags and some scissors somewhere discreet in the bathroom and just do the trash bag method that several pp have mentioned. Much cheaper and exactly the same concept as the bridal buddy.

I have "stage fright" when it comes to peeing in front of everyone, lol. So I will most definitely be looking into getting one of these as well!

My venue has a private "bride's room" with an en-suite bathroom .. I'm planning on sitting backwards and if all else fails, taking the whole thing off LOL-- my dress has cups sewn in so I'd essentially be naked without it, so I'd like to avoid that if possible.

NOOO!!! I have had plans for so long to get the bridal buddy but I have a ginormous ball gown! This is terrible and I may just be the stubborn person who buys one anyways and tries it out

I completely agree with ALL of this, haha. I can't pee in front of people and there are WAY too many buttons on my dress to deal with. Gathering/sitting backwards is my current game plan.

My mom suggested to me just taking the dress off, but it has like 25-30 buttons. I don't think so! I was thinking of getting the bridal buddy but will probably just do the trash bag thing. I'm far too clumsy to trust myself to not accidentally dunk my dress in the toilet.

I totally saw the buzzfeed article sent it to my MOH and she came back with 'I'll be armed with trash bags all night' hahaha!!! So I'm going with the trash bag method.
