Bridal Buddy: ridiculous or necessary?

Stephanie, on April 4, 2018 at 10:16 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 43
Hi everyone! So my wedding is just about 4 months out and I'm starting to wonder about how the heck you use the bathroom in a wedding dress. Although my dress is a-line, it still has more layers and fabric on the bottom than I have ever worn. Has anyone heard of this "Bridal Buddy" product? It's a slip that is put under your dress that helps gather your whole dress above your hips. At first, I thought "That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen" and admittedly, it does look pretty silly, but I wonder... how else do you even pee in such a dress?

I just seen the ad for that! Hey if it works, I would rather pee alone then with an audience! Lol

Yeah, that was my thought. I am so not having people in the bathroom while I pee!

If it would work for me I would use it....however my mom was mortified when she realized my mermaid dress would probably need to come off for me to be able to use the bathroom at all.😖

I've always just gathered up the brides dress for her. If your not shy then its no big deal to have extra hands... But I heard the bridal buddy is a heavensent from a friend who also had an A-line dress, but she needed to practice with it before the wedding.

Yes! That happened to me... I just held it and made sure to pee before I got in the dress! It probably helpped that I've been practicing for years with a "teacher's bladder".

I’ve heard you can basically do the same thing with a clean trash bag, you just cut holes for your legs and arms
not as “glamorous” but it’s basically free

Would this item be good for a huge ballgown skirt with a 6 ft train? You've caught my interest?

I had no idea what a bridal buddy was, so when I looked it up I was amazed that they would make such a thing. However knowing that I can go pee by myself and not have to worry about any mishaps is definitely a mine changer.
I am really considering on getting a bridal buddy now.

My gown with my train didn't require a bridal buddy. I literally just lifted my gown. It depends on the gown.

I bought one. Hopefully it does what it says and works beautifully! I don’t want an audience in the bathroom either. 😂

I'm planning on just lifting it up and sitting facing the toilet

Sitting on the toilet backwards worked for me and was pretty easy.

I just took my slip off, and gathered all the layers. If you're wearing a slip or a crinoline, taking that off may help a lot. Sitting backwards helps with big dresses too!

So what about those of us who NEVER sit on public toilets???? I may just consume most of my liquids (at least 84 Oz's of water) hours before the start of my ceremony. Maybe I won't have to use the restroom until after the reception. Lol Lord be with me.

I only had to go once and I just slipped out of my dress. It was a hot day, so it was nice to cool down for a couple of minutes anyway. That might not work if your dress is difficult to get into and out of, but mine was one simple zip in and out!

Yeah, I don't know it I can zip myself back up! My dress has a built in corset and it is TIGHT. And this is before alterations... Haha. May be possible though!
