Bridal boutique ordered wrong size dress update.

Emily, on November 29, 2018 at 10:00 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 28
So i dont know if any of you saw my post about my bridal shop ordering my dress 2 sizes smaller than what we agreed upon. After many phone calls, emails AND a visit there is no happy update. They have issued apologies, offered gift cards but will not refund the dress or rush order one. Im at a loss of words, and out of $2,200. I turned down the giftcards and ignored their apologies. They have blocked me on instagram and my phone number, and asked me to stop contacting them because i am “banned” from their store and they will only contact me when the dress arrives. I dont have it in the budget for my dream dress now, since we are already $30,000 in with planning and are paying for everything ourselves. We dont want to take out a loan to buy my wedding dress, so this weekend i am going dress shopping alone to find a cheap dress. So sad i have to settle, but everything happens for a reason and im happy i get to marry my FH.

Wow I'm so sorry that happened to you. I can't believe they won't fix this for you. So unprofessional! If I were you I'd blast them so hard anywhere I could put a review. Other brides definitely need to know about this.

I don't understand how they can't fix this? Do you have the paperwork that shows the correct size? Did they offer to at least try alterations (I'm not sure which way you need to go but I think they can let a dress out up to 2 sizes)

If that doesn't work I would go to my credit card company or bank and dispute the charges because you are not receiving the correct product that was ordered.

I would leave a negative review on every possible platform. Do you have all the paperwork showing the right size? I don't understand why they aren't working with you if this is their fault.. Absolutely crazy. Could possibly be a small claims case.

If you have any paperwork or a receipt that shows the smaller size is the one that was supposed to be ordered, they have to order it no matter what or refund you. Or else, take them to court.

I would absolutely take this to small claims court. This is not right at all.

Even if she still finds a "cheap dress," I would still take them to court. Hard earned money is still hard earned money.

This! If you’re paperwork shows they are giving you a different size then your contract, I would contact my credit card company and dispute the charges since it’s not the item you ordered and report them to better business bureau.
Im a little confused, you said they will only contact you when the dress arrives? So they have ordered a new one for you?
Where did the breakdown exactly happen? Does the contract you have say the incorrect price?
I know this is a stressful situation, but don’t jump the gun and get all angry and not think logically. It may be too late, but self reflect. It’s difficult for anyone to deal with a hysterical person. Calmly and clearly communicate what you expect from them. If it’s in your contract then you’re responsible, but if your contract says your correct size then they have to either refund you or get you the right dress in time, no if’s and or buts. Otherwise you take further steps with the credit card company or if you paid cash file a small claims lawsuit.

Document everything: receipt, correspondences on every platform and take them to court. In the meantime call your credit card company and see if you can dispute the charge. You're not getting what you paid for and the boutique isn't doing anything to make it right.

From the time that they emailed me stating they made a mistake and ordered the wrong size i have made it a point to be professional but at the same time direct and serious. Of course I’m upset but i didnt want them to use my anger as a reason to not work with me. I have all of our paperwork where it says the price i paid, and the size they *should’ve* ordered. Their reasoning is that a new younger employee mistakenly ordered a dress 2 sizes smaller on accident and since then she has been let go. I told them that I didn’t want anyone fired from their job, i just wanted the dress that i loved in the right size. I mentioned taking them to court and they said they would understand. They are a very small personable boutique and thats why i chose them instead of a bigger retailer. I’m so upset that they wont do anything to make this right but i feel like it would be more money to fight this in court than to just go get another dress somewhere else. It is what it is— you can refer back to my other post where the bridal shop owner told me to lose 40 pounds to be able to fit. I’ve stayed calm, cool and collected this entire process to them, but privately am torn apart.

I am too am confused. If the dress hasn't arrived, how do you know it is the wrong size?

I agree with the advice above! When is the dress expected to arrive? When did you order it?

I am really sorry! What they’re doing to you is terrible. Please don’t let them get away with your money. Credit card dispute is much easier, but If you end up having to go to court, file the court doc yourself it will be a couple hundred bucks, but at least you get the majority of your money back. They should not be in business if they can’t take responsibility for their mistake.

That's ridiculous they have admitted to ordering the wrong size even? Seriously dispute the charges on your credit card or tell them if they don't make this right you will be disputing the charges because the CC company will come back on them for the $2,200 refund (They will ask that you provide documentation but it works I did this with a company I paid for doggy daycare a year up front and my dog was attacked [same type of scenario they admitted they knew the dog that attacked mine was an aggressive dog that had attacked before they should not have allowed the dog back but they did so this was on them as their contract states if a dog shows aggression they will be removed and not allowed back] company REFUSED to refund my $1,000 I contacted the CC company and sent them the paperwork and the vet paperwork and they refunded 100% of the money). A small company will not want to have to refund a $2200 credit card charge. This is 100% their mistake do not let them push you over there are many recourses you can take. Good Luck!! And most other bridal shops will help you to get something in on time if you explain the situation.

Small claims court doesn’t involve an attorney and only costs you the filing fee, at most a couple hundred bucks.

When is your dress supposed to come in? A really good seamstress might be able to make this work. That’s no justification for how they have behaved, but just this might work out ok.

How did you pay? If you paid with a credit card call them and explain the situation. You don't have the item you paid for, which is fraud. Let them deal with it. Or as others have said contact a lawyer.
