Bridal bouquet price

LaNovia, on December 6, 2015 at 4:11 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 36

I am not having a bridal party so I will only need to get brides bouquet and a few boutineers. How much did your flowers cost? Also did you purchase an extra "throw away" bouquet? I'm thinking about visiting the florist shop at my local Albertsons store but want an idea of how much I am going to spend. Any tips or advice?

You can pretty much spend as much or as little as you want, if you are flexible about the types of flowers used.

We spent about $250 on 2 bridal bouquets, one MOH bouquet, and a bout. But a lot depends on the geographical area, the type of flowers, the number of flowers (in-season roses versus exotic orchids), and the construction of the bouquet. (A hand-tied bouquet will be less than one with a lot of wiring, etc.)

In the quote from my florist, my bridal bouquet is $125 and my bridesmaids are $50 each.

Albertson's is a grocery store, right? If so, you can plan on spending less than you would if you hire an event florist. Just remember -- the difference between the two is like buying a new or pre-owned car at a car dealership (i.e., "Welcome. How was the traffic? Did you have any trouble finding us? Sit down. Can I get you some coffee? Let me show you around...take all the time you need. Can I take you to lunch? Oh, yes...we're open to negotiating. Of course we'll take care of all the insurance and DMV paperwork for you. Yes, yes...we'll detail the car...") vs. buying a used car off of Craigslist (i.e., "Yeah, you're late. My next customer is coming in 20 minutes. I'm not washing it and I'm not negotiable. Are you interested or not? It's "as is", no warranty, okay?").

If you can live with minimal contact -- grocery store florists are not going to walk you through your visions and ideas, and they're not going to place a premium on answering your emails -- it can definitely work for you. If you aren't locked into a particular bloom in a particular shade, and you're willing to accept the right colors, a grocery store florist could work for you. Some of the pieces I've seen that were designed by grocery store florists are lovely (and very economical). Oh, delivery of the product is probably not an option, so have someone ready to pick up your pieces the night before your wedding.

If you want something relatively common -- like roses, carnations, etc. -- this could be the right avenue for you. As far as a toss bouquet, we give each of our brides a toss bouquet without charge (as do many event florists). I don't think a grocery store will do that.

Also, I should've mentioned, I requested very "cheap" flowers. I showed her an inspiration and told her to replace the expensive flowers with more affordable options. If I got my inspiration photo exactly, it would've been $250. The type of flower you use makes a huge difference.

And as Centerpiece said, a toss bouquet was free. I'm not doing a bouquet toss, so she's throwing in an extra display to put at the bar or card table.

I'm in NYC and my bouquet is $150, bridesmaids $40, bouts $7 (groom's is $10). The toss bouquet is included for free since we are doing a whole package with them (ceremony and reception flowers). What are you doing for centerpieces? (ETA: similar to Jersey Jen, I just asked for whatever flowers would be most affordable. I didn't have very strong preferences. The bouquets are mostly roses and greenery.)

I'm in Oklahoma and my bouquet was $125. I didn't need a toss bouquet because I didn't do a bouquet toss.

I'm also in NJ and right now mine is quoted at $160 for what is basically a mix of wildflowery type flowers including roses and sunflowers and $240 for 3 bridesmaids ($80 each). I think $80 for each BM is waaaay too high and I planning on eventually finalizing something cheaper for them.

This is why I included "talent' in my answer.

I used a grocery store also, but it didn't really save me any money, but my flowers were exquisite. My bouquet cost $125 and the men's bouts were $15 each for gerbera daisies. Here's a few pics.

Karen, you're the bride I think of whenever I talk about grocery store florals being something to consider. The individual designer who did your wedding flowers was obviously skilled in composition and styling (hidden talent is everywhere). Did you save a bundle in terms of hiring an event florist? No...but you already know that. It doesn't matter -- you found someone with the gift. Your flowers were beautiful.

I actually made all 6 of my bridesmaids bouquets and all 6 groomsmen's boutonnières from fake flowers and ours will be real. Each bouquet costed me $15 to make and only $1 each for boutonnières. I'm also going to make a toss bouquet from fake ones as well.
