Breaking in shoes without carpet?

Kari, on November 18, 2019 at 11:48 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

Any advice on how to "break in" my wedding shoes while still having them look new for the wedding?

I know I can wear them around the house while doing chores, but it seems like people recommend wearing them with socks on and walking around exclusively on carpet, then roughing up the soles with sandpaper.

We have all hardwood or tile floors, with no carpet or area rugs.

If my wedding shoes aren't uncomfortable out of the box (and made of synthetic materials, which don't really "break in" in the same way as leather does anyway), do I really need to wear them around pre-wedding?

I didn’t wear mine at all pre-wedding, they were super comfortable to begin with

You can also try wearing them with socks while using a blow dryer on them. The heat actually helps to soften the material. Good luck!

I wore mine on a regular day around the office since mine were new flats but they were not comfortable at all so I'm glad I broke mine in

I would definitely break them anyway, you want to make sure you are as comfy as possible. My mom has done this before is to get medical booties to wear over them so they don’t get scratched or stained or anything. I’m going to do that once I get mine in!
