Me and my fiance are debating what we want to do for food at our reception. I love the idea of doing a brunch theme for dinner, i personally think its different but fun. He isn't super crazy about the idea. I wanted to hear peoples opinions on the matter, does anyone else think its a good idea or do...

EDIT - it would be brunch themed not breakfast, there would be an omelet station and prime rib as well as a mimosa bar. The wedding will be maybe 70 people and it's going to be very informal on the beach

When I was a kid, we had breakfast for dinner when Mom was totally broke and all we had left in the house was flour and eggs. It's not a happy memory for me. Lots of people who grew up poor feel the same way. I would never be anything but disappointed if I went to an evening wedding and was served breakfast.

Even with delicious prime rib. Which just doesn't go with waffles- the king of all breakfast foods.

Fried chicken goes with waffles Smiley smile If you did chicken and waffles for dinner I could be very happy.

But please don't call it "breakfast for dinner", because there is a stressed out little 8 year old inside of me who has to lie and smile real big and say "yeah!" when she hears those awful words.

Not a fan, honestly, and no one loves brunch more than I do. If there is prime rib, I'm not going to eat an omelette.

You could do a chicken and waffle hors d'oeuvres; we just had that the other day at a very upscale venue. Everyone loved it. Bacon goes with everything. Mimosas? Absolutely. MIni quiches? Sure thing.

If you love breakfast food, you can absolutely incorporate it, but I don't love it as a theme.

I think this is a know your crowd kind of thing. When we first booked our venue, we booked it for a Sunday afternoon with a brunch reception. After some reconsideration, we decided to move it to the night before and do the whole Saturday evening wedding, which included a dinner reception. My friends were thrilled with the change in day, but some were disappointed that we wouldn't be doing brunch. Had I told them we were doing breakfast for dinner, I know they would have been excited. Just know your crowd and what they would prefer because the reception is really for them.
