BR: Is Nausea a Sign of labor

Andrene, on September 16, 2012 at 5:39 PM Posted in Married Life 0 37

For those who've gone through it, did you have nausea before going in to labor?

I'm feeling a bit sick to my stomach but not having any contractions and no sign of water breaking. Man I really wish we had gone to those childbirth classes. It's driving me nuts not knowing what is going on with my body.

Andrene, I am by no means a medical professional, but I know the day before I went into labor I had absolutely NO energy, did not feel well and laid around all day. It was awful because I had company in town all weekend, and I could barely get off the couch (very unusual for me).

I've heard that its normal before labor for women to have diarrhea and indigestion, so quite possibly upset stomach too ?

I would like to hear what others say. Hang in there sweetheart, I know the last week or so is so tough!

It's so weird. I was feeling fine one minute and the next the nausea kicked in and I have a slight headache and feel like I'm getting the flu. But I got the flu shot so don't think I should be getting sick. Maybe I just overdid it this morning at my maternity shoot.

I still say call your doctor if your unsure. I did not have any nausea until I was in active labor.

I didn't get nausea or sick until I went into "hard" labor.

Took a warm shower and it still didn't help so I called the dr. My regular isnt on call so I spoke to a relief. He said I'm not in labor and maybe I just ate something that didn't agree with me and I should take a walk and get some fresh air. I'm not comforted by this diagnosis at all because I still feel bad and nothing I ate today should make me sick.

I will. I've been googling but can't find any explanation as to why I feel like this.

You'll know most women get sick during labor because of the pain and or the pain meds. like the Dr said you just probably ate something that upset your stomach or the baby is leaning against. it my youngest used to do that to me

Yes, you can feel like that. I did with my first child.

    I was vomiting like crazy.

But just relax you will be fine, baby is in control now.

For my second child, no water broke, my cervix was no where near ready, I end up having a c-section. No sign of contraction.

    but everyone is different.

I never got sick before labor only in hard labor did i get really sick. even though your due in two weeks you might still be getting sick to your stomach i did with my son i was always sick with him everything i did, seen or put in my mouth came right back out or made me sick.....you just might be scared or excited about giving birth and your getting sick to your stomach...all i can say is you will know when you are in labor its not anything you have ever felt. i know its hard to think well how will i know or the early contractions you get before you go into but when you finally do go into labor you will know. but everyone is different

I never got sick at all. I was real lucky. I went to work and about an hour after being there I had to call my boss to come in. I was "leaking" and started to get contractions. When I went to the hospital they where going to send me home till my contractions started up again. I was 1 month early. Due on July 28th and had her on June 28th. I had to have a c-section and that was when I got sick. I would talk to your Dr. he/she should be able to tell you or check you out.

Hunnie, if you are not satisfied with a diagnosis over the phone and you are concerned.... GO IN!!! You know your body, darlin. It is better to go in and be sure rather than kicking yourself later. Even if it's just indigestion, you'd rather feel stupid than something else. Smiley winking

My mom was sick with me the whole pregnancy. I have known a couple women who said they just felt sick as dogs within the couple days or hours before labor started.

I was sick my whole pregnancy! i didn't have morning sickness; I had morning, noon, afternoon, night, middle of the night sickness. Many things I smelled made me sick, especially hotdogs (don't get me started on that story). Just relax and if you don't like what the relief doctor said, GO IN!!! The doctors see a million pregnant ladies who think they are in labor and are not. It is ok. Just breathe....
