Bouts or corsages for mob/mog?

Lindsey, on June 15, 2017 at 9:52 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 23

What is everyone doing for the moms, bouts or corsages? I hadn't even thought about it until today. Corsages seem so old school to me, but do mom's wear bouts? Also, are the moms supposed to walk down the aisle, or just take a seat? I have seen both at weddings before but not sure what the norm is.

Our moms are getting small corsages for their wrists or to pin on their dress depending on their preference.

Boutonnieres are for men- for the buttonhole- which women don't have.

    Ask the Moms their preference.

The mothers are usually escorted to their seats just before the wedding party starts the processional.

We haven't really thought about what we'll do, but I have seen shoulder corsages... something else to consider

Florist does these cute wristlet corsages. Band is sparkly! Is another option just silver. Getting for both

FMIL wanted a wrist corsage and that's what she's getting! We need to figure out about getting her a good seat; there's no real processional but she is the parent of the hour so we'll need to set her apart somehow.

Our moms requested wrist corsages. They did not want to pin anything on their dresses. I would ask them what they would prefer. Our moms walked down the aisle before the wedding party.

If you're a 20 or 30 something year old bride, chances are that the mom/stepmoms are old enough to relate the word "boutonnieres, a/k/a bouts" with their male escorts. They don't want the same things that are typically found on the lapels of formal suits or tuxes. Pinned corsages are far preferable, if not wrist corsages. A more modern approach is the small bouquet, also know as a tussy mussy. We've done plenty of them for moms, and while they can be hand wrapped, many of our brides have opted to have those mini-bouquets set in small, silver toned cone shaped bouquet holders featuring two small hearts that display the inscribed monogram of the bride and the inscribed monogram of the groom. It's a lovely wedding keepsake for the moms. But, bouts for moms? Not a fan.

I struggled with that too until my florist reminded me about the pin! My

Mom will be hugging people all night and the flower will be smashed! Not to mention the pin sticking in her lovely dress and maybe accidentally herself! I got my fiancés mom and my mom corsages.

We're doing wrist corsages/bouts for the women in the family aka Mother of the bride and groom and our grandmothers but not the men except for my dad because he's walking down the aisle. I'm asking each person though if they would prefer a corsage or a bout.

All good ideas, thanks Ladies and Gents! Here's another question, that I thought of...my brother is part of the groomsmen, and my dad is walking me down...if my mom does want to walk...does she walk solo or have my dad or Bro escort her to her seat and then make their way back in line?

I have not thought that far into it. My mother has many allergies and his mother is not feminine at all so I'm not sure what we will do

I just asked them, and they both thought corsages were kind of old fashioned and declined.

we are having all our parents in the processional (each of us escorted by our parents).

I don't love corsages so I asked both moms if they'd prefer a small bouquet, single stem flower, or to just skip it and they both opted to skip it! They already had pretty clutches in their hand anyway Smiley smile

I think they are still called a corsage if it is attached to the attire or worn on the wrist. I would personally just ask them what they would prefer. They may just say they don't want anything.
