Boutonniere question

Samantha, on November 7, 2015 at 1:48 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

So, we have decided that my FH and his groomsmen will not wear jackets with their attire since the wedding is in June and it will be too hot, and we are not a fan of the jackets. I am wondering if they still wear boutonnieres or not.

Not sure if there will be a buttonhole on the shirt like there is on a jacket lapel for a classic boutonniere? (I cringe at the idea of poking a hole through a nice dress or Polo Shirt with a heavy flower stuck to a pin) You could try something like color themed tie clips or belt buckles instead? Maybe even matching fedora hats or sunglasses to go with your wedding theme? That could even double as a groomsman gift .best of luck!

Our date is in August and are skipping jackets. They will be wearing suspenders, so the bouts can be pinned to those.

If it is only a shirt i think it would look really funny if they did wear one. But then again..I think it would be strange if they did not have one and I would not like that.

I don't really care for them, to be honest. They are expensive and don't really have a purpose. I say if you can go without, do.

We aren't doing jackets because our wedding is less formal. They are wearing vests and I ordered bouts for them!

I don't know if you should or shouldn't wear them, but if you decide to have them they can be made with magnets so you don't have to worry about poking holes through the shirt

Are you having them wear vests? Or suspenders? If they are just wearing button down shirts I'm not sure about boutonnieres. My guys wore vests without jackets and we did have boutonnieres, and they looked fab. Attached an image that is not my wedding, but is similar to the look we had. Except we had succulents, not buttons, haha.

I don't know if the magnets would work better on shirts, but pinning a boutonniere onto a shirt usually doesn't work well. The weight is too much for the thin material of the shirt even if you pin through the pocket.

Boutonnieres work fine on jackets, vests, and I suppose would work on suspenders.

I would only have them wear bouts if they are going to wear vests.
