Bouquet/Garter Toss Alternatives?

My fiancé and I decided not to do bouquet/garter toss at our wedding because most of our friends are married already and we just don't like it. Anyone have any ideas for alternatives to this, or did you do anything in its place?

My fiancee and I decided to do the shoe game, and our families surprised us with a money dance.

My friend was in the same boat and had the bouquet toss to wish someone good luck for the next year.

My daughter did an anniversary dance- asking all married couples to join in. Then kept having couples leave the floor by years married- the last couple on the floor had been married the longest- and were given a small bouquet of flowers

Shoe game. Or more dance time. My party in April. My hubby doesn’t want to do garter, but I want to throw a throw bouquet. It’s your wedding you don’t have to do what you don’t want to do. Smiley smile

My sister decided to give her bouquet to the couple at the wedding that had been married for the longest. You have all of the married couples on the dance floor and the dj would start listing off a time frame for how long they’d been together (I.e. dj would say 1 year and couples married for one year would leave the dance floor) until there is one couple left. I thought it was a super cute alternative, especially if most of your guests are married so many can participate!

You could do an anniversary dance, but no need to replace with anything. We're skipping and not replacing with anything. I definitely would NOT recommend the shoe game because IMO it's super boring for the guests and they'll more than likely end up congregating at the bar. I personally haven't seen a garter toss in 10 years, and maybe 1 or 2 bouquet tosses and they were awkward. Most people skip these days because they're based on sexist stereotypes and traditions. I'd say just skip and don't replace!

Thanks Sara, after seeing some of the other suggestions probably going to skip and not replace. I think the anniversary dance is cute but we already know who has been married the longest. I'm not a fan of the shoe game at all, I went to one wedding they did dollar dance, shoe game, garter toss and bouquet toss - it was just WAY too much and it was pretty awkward.

We're not doing the bouquet toss or garter toss, either. I think if you just skip it, no one will notice. You could possibly present the bouquet to the couple who's been married the longest if you really want to do something.

I had a friend in Brazil who did a box toss. They took the box from a nice bottle of Patron (emptied it) and then whoever caught it got the liquor! It was a fun spin that included all of the adults and the guys went wild trying to win!

Play the shoe game. Look it up on youtube. That's what we plan on doing instead of the tosses as well.
