Bouquet toss When everyone is married?

Nichole, on April 15, 2019 at 2:03 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 63
So my question is I am basically the last person that I know to get married that is of age I’m 29 😬 lol the only other woman that isn’t married is my big sister. So my idea is for all the women that are ready for a vow renewal as well as the singles go out there.... so basically all the women. What do you think? I would feel super awkward if I was one of 3 girls that are single to catch the bouquet.

I just wouldn't do it. I didn't and most weddings i've been to in the last few years haven't either. No one will miss it, i promise.

I would just skip it all together.

I plan on just handing mine off to the longest married couple in attendance. Otherwise, I'd just skip it. We're skipping the garter toss for sure.

I don't have many single friends and the last thing I want to do is single them out.

I just wouldn't do it, honestly. We did it, but only because we still had a lot of singles - it was fun for the younger girls, but if it was just my family and closest friends we would have had no need since we're almost all married as well.

I have kind of the same issue so we will be offering a gift card to whoever catches it. A lot of people don’t like this tradition but we are personally excited about it and none of our family and friends will be offended by it. But we are going with the “prize” just so everyone that wants to can participate.

I'm gifting my bouquet to a sweet friend who is offering me a lot of support. For fun, we're going to toss a stuffed cat toy to all the pet owners (there are many) and they'll receive a $20 Petco giftcard.

That is SUCH a cute idea! We have a huge group of animal lovers. I might steal this idea. Smiley smile

A lot of people are skipping the bouquet toss nowadays, but what my friend did was did a little game:

The MC would say stuff like, "If you're married for longer than 5 years stand up"

And he'd keep going up and like calling out 10 years, 20 years, etc. (Other couples who didnt make those years yet would sit down)

So her bouquet was rewarded to the sweet old couple who were married for the longest and she celebrated that, which was really sweet.

We just skipped it. We didn't want to embarrass our few friends who were unmarried and the longest married thing would have been hurtful to me, since my dad passed away about 5 years before the wedding. No one missed it.

I don't know how you'd determine who was ready for a vow renewal. My wife actually dislikes them--says they are often the last thing the couple does before getting divorced.

I'd just skip the toss. It's awkward even if you have a lot of single women, since it suggests that they are all competing to be next to be married. It's doubly awkward when you start including married women.

I've seen a bride give her toss bouquet to the longest married couple at the wedding. I thought was very sweet. But skipping it is not a bad thing either. It up to you!

I'm not doing this, but I did think about doing a bouquet toss or all women (or anyone really) and the person who caught it would win something, like a fancy bottle of wine.

We’re skipping it because I always felt so awkward going out there with very few people. I’ve seen people include all of the girls and just shove some cash or some other prize in the bouquet for who catches it. Same for the garter with the men. We’re also skipping that. I’m not all about him going up my dress in front of everyone. I saw a groom on bridezillas LICK his wife’s toe before he kissed her during the garter scene. 🤮

I’m not going to do a bouquet toss at all. Since mine will be silk flowers, I’m just going to keep it and repurpose the flowers as a wreath.

I would skip it. If you really wanted to do something, you could do an anniversary dance where all of the married couples go to the dance floor and are eliminated one by one based on how long they've been married. The couple married the longest will get the toss bouquet and offer up advice to a long lasting marriage to you and your new spouse.

We are skipping it for that reason exactly. I'd rather keep the party going on the dance floor.

I would just skip it. If you want to give away a bouquet, the anniversary dances where the longest married couple is the last standing is probably your best bet.
