Bouquet really necessary?

Penelope, on March 10, 2017 at 10:27 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 30

Trying to decide if I really need to carry a bouquet... maybe do a floral headpiece instead? Thoughts?

Can you do both? Bouquets are beautiful.

I can. I just don't feel compelled to carry anything but myself down the aisle. There's time to play with bouquets though so maybe a small one.

I think bouquets are good to hide your nerves in case you have any. My sisters got taken from her for her entrance to dinner and she said she felt super awkward not having in. Just giving you the other side of things.

Do what makes you feel comfortable. I think bouquets are always a nice touch though.

Yes, I think bouquets are as necessary as a bridal gown. If you don't want one, that's up to you.

I love flowers but didn't want to fuss carrying one around and for the price REALLY didn't care. Put that money towards extra cupcakes and upgraded alcohol! ETA: the upgrades are for the beer kegs.

I would be super conscious of my hands the entire time and not knowing what to do with them while walking down the aisle. But I'm also super awkward and have mild social anxiety so I definitely need a bouquet to hold onto. I also think it completes the bridal look IMO.

The price of the average bridal bouquet is not going to buy you upgraded alcohol. Cupcakes, maybe.

My vision of walking down the aisle never includes me carrying flowers...I get where it could be a concentrating point for my hands and it's traditional. I have time to play with ideas but I'm still not sold on it. I have seen a couple cascading bouquets that were to die for but I'm so short that I think it'll take too much away from me (and FH said I'm the focus of the aisle).

Penney, you bring up a great point. Too many florists just create a bouquet without considering scale. If you're petite, you can have your cascading bouquet, but it has to be scaled to compliment you, not overwhelm you. If you speak to a florist, you have to bring that up. Doing a smaller cascade isn't an impossibility.

Do what you want! I feel like it makes it more natural to have the placement of your hands...

I'm growing wild flowers for decorations (maybe lol). Who knows what'll grow. Bouquets don't have to match to deco...just flow...correct? I have backup plans for deco if the flowers don't come up w fake from ac n what not but should I just have florist do up what goes w my fake vision and what grows obviously would be bonus greenery. This is all way more than I expected to be focused on! LOL

We aren't doing any flowers. It's not something I care about so not worth the money. Never liked carrying them as a bridesmaid--always made me feel more awkward!! I am doing statement bracelets in our accent color for the girls in our party and I may carry a wine cork bouquet for a couple pictures and down the aisle and that's it. Whatever's important to you--if you don't care then there is nothing you *have* to do!!!

I vote for both. And I honestly don't understand 'not liking flowers".

It's your wedding and you should do what makes you feel beautiful!! If you don't like the idea of a bouquet, you could always carry a small one, something else entirely (I once heard of a wedding where the bride carried balloons- it was super cute), or just carry nothing at all!! I know that WW posters are all about what the guests want, but I think the bouquet is for the bride and so she should do what she wants with it Smiley smile I'm sure whatever you decide will be beautiful!

Do you want to hold something when you walk down the aisle? If you want to hold something other than flowers try googling "alternative wedding bouquets" for fun ideas. If not you can always fold your hands together.

For real though, loving this and the bouquet. Maybe with colors a little more purple.

I am not carrying a bouquet. When I told my mum she started researching...she knowsI do not like cut flowers. So, she found eco-flower which are flowers made out of wood. It actually started to change my mind. Now I am willing to get a bouquet for photos, since as my mum puts it, I may regret not having one and these last forever, so I am not paying a bunch for flowers that will just die.

So, one you are not alone in the whole not wanting a bouquet or contemplating not having one. And 2 it is your day. do what feels right for you.
