Bouquet and garter toss

Jess, on November 15, 2017 at 10:16 AM Posted in Planning 0 41

Do people still do the bouquet and garter toss? I feel like it's so awkward. Did you have one or just skip it?

If you don't want one, dont do one. Yes people still do it, but it's up to you. (I'm not doing it because I think it's awkward too)

People still do it. I plan to do it at mine.

ETA: OP you don't have to do it, its not a requirement.

I skipped both of them. I think they're cheesy. Do what you want.

I didn't do it. I think it's cheesy, sexist, and uncomfortable.

My coworker chose not to do it because most of her friends were already married and she felt like it would be too awkward for her small group of single friends. Personally, I'm doing it. I think it's fun activity to grab people's attention.

We plan to skip any traditions that don't feel right to us and that includes the garter/bouquet toss. I've never been to a wedding where people enjoyed it and I know as a guest I find it awkward and I kinda dread it.

We're skipping both too. I absolutely hate those traditions and feel that it disrupts the party. Sooooo nope!

Skipping both - I don't think any girls in my circle enjoy doing the bouquet toss -- I know I only reluctantly participate if there are only a couple people out there and I don't want the bride to feel bad. The garter toss is icky to me.

People still do them but many couples skip. I've been to some weddings with neither, but I'd say the majority of weddings I've been to just had a bouquet toss. I've only experienced a couple of garter tosses in real life.

We're not doing either. I find the garter business uncomfortable. I WOULD do a bouquet toss BUT there are hardly any single women. And the women who ARE aren't particularly thrilled about it, so I surely don't intend to single them out and call attention to it.

ETA: agree about knowing your audiences. We're older. If all of our invites come, there will literally be FIVE single females. At least two of them being lovely ladies who are very concerned to be pushing 40 and single and coming to terms with the thought that they may never have kids. So for MY crowd, seems rude.
