Bought a dress a size too small

Bride2020, on July 26, 2019 at 12:59 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

I am so excited to have finally bought my dress! After searching and searching, I was sure I was going to end up spending around 1k for the styles I liked, when I wanted to spend more like 6 or 7 hundred. I fell in love with this off the rack dress that was on sale for $400! It made me do something I never thought I’d do...I bought the dress even though it’s a liiiiiittle small! I did it because I have been slowly loosing weight, so it’s safe to say I won’t gain, and she said that even if I stayed my current weight, she would adjust the dress and it would be fine, though she suggested attempting to drop down a size. Ah! Any other ladies do something like this? Any tips? I've got a little over 300 days, so I think I can do it! I never thought I would do this, I’m very cautious and realistic about this sort of thing, but I love this dress! (Also, show off yours in the comments! I wanna hype up some ladies!)

You can do it! Create a plan to get yourself there and stick to it. The dress is gorgeous! Stay positive and focused.

Thank you Cyndy! I am excited, a size down is around where I'd like to be, so it feels really nice to have a goal!

You can definitely do it! You have loads of time and it honestly doesn't look very small on you anyways!

Your dress is beautiful!! It looks so flowy and comfortable! you've got plenty of time to give it a shot! Come up with a plan and stick with it and you’ll be fine Smiley smile

my dress is actually a tiny bit too big xD. I tried it on in a size 4 and the stylist suggested ordering a size 2 and pulled the dress tight saying “this is what it’s going to fit like” it was perfect. When It arrived 3 weeks later it was a tad bit loose. There’s about an inch of space in the bust and the waist is a little bit looser than I’d like it to be. I’m considering adding a corset back to make it more adjustable.

That is SO gorgeous! I love the headband with it too!
A corset is a great idea! I tried on one corset dress throughout all this and it definitely had an awesome fit!

Thanks Anna! & yes! It's definitely a little small in the underarm area, but other than that where the dress is a bit small underneath doesn't show through too well underneath all the layers of dress! So if I don't loose weight I think the alterations will be pretty minor i hope! But I'm gonna try to!

I ended up buying one that was a little bit taller and incorporated some pearls with the crystals to tie in the heirloom pearl necklace I'm wearing. I love it.
I tried on one corset dress and it took the stylist forever to get it laced, tight, and tied, so I don't know if it's an endeavor I want to force upon my bridesmaid and Maid of Honor, but I love the way they look.
