Boudoir Photos- Topless or Not?

Rachel, on August 20, 2015 at 3:29 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 20

I'm taking boudoir pictures this Saturday and I hadn't considered taking actual topless pictures with my boobs showing until my MOH suggested it. I'm going for a very romantic and soft but sexy look for the photos. No really slutty poses or skankyiness.

So, what are your opinions on taking topless photos? These pictures are meant to be seen by no one other than my FH and will be presented to him in book form as part of his wedding gift.

    Topless can be done tastefully.

You can do a "hinted" pose with your back to the camera with your top/bra off, or with your arms or a bit of flimsy fabric covering you.

I'd do what you're comfortable with though. If you hadn't thought about it, and your photographer doesn't have suggestions on tasteful poses, don't do it. Smiley laugh

    Have fun above all!

Ummm yeah so I did some with no nothing on Smiley surprise I see them tomorrow. I think they'd be classified as artistic. If you feel comfortable, do it! It was freeing. It was very, this is it, this is all I am and everything I am.

I was adamant beforehand that I would not be topless. But whadda ya know, at the end of the shoot I was doing topless shots. Lol. It's because my photographer is awesome and I felt so comfortable (note: I'm not even comfortable in a bathing suit in front of people unless it's a tank top and skirt/shorts). So, maybe you will just go there! lol. Play it by ear. My shots were from the back of me and I didn't like either one because I don't think I have a good figure for that. But you can try it and see!

Thanks! I guess it hadn't crossed my mind because the only boudoir pictures I've seen are on Pinterest and they don't show boobies. It never crossed my mind that this is because a)most real women who do topless photos aren't sharing them all over the internet and b)most websites have restrictive nudity policies.

Most importantly, you should decide if you are comfortable with it. If you are, then I don't see why not, after all this is a gift for your soon to be husband. If you ever google boudoir photos you will see that they stay within the tasteful bounds even when topless.

I did photos as well and I had no intention of doing topless but it just naturally happened. They were always slightly covered though, like with my hands or curtains. I did a lot of bare back shots as well as pics with just one of his shirts on but unbuttoned.

As long as you're comfortable going topless in front of a camera I would go for it. Worse case scenario you just don't pick those photos to show your fh. I did a couple of mine topless and they turned out amazing. My photographer took one with me holding my bra out in the foreground with it blurred and me in focus in the background topless and it's one of my favorites. Very soft and artsy.

Like the other gals said, if it feels right to you, then go for it. If you're kind of on the fence, it's ok not to as well. I think it'll depend on how comfortable you feel during your shoot.

I mainly had lingerie and teddies on (which are AWESOME, by the way...I had never worn a teddy before, and they're the best!), but I did do a few full topless with some strings of pearls. They look classy and sexy, but they're definitely not my favorite. I think the teddies look sexier. I say, be open to the idea, but don't force yourself if you don't feel like it!

I agree with everyone above! Also, if you want some examples of tastefully done topless shots, check out Jennifer Williams Boudoir. I just booked with her for October and I'm so excited! She has some beautiful shots and they don't make you think OMG boobies! She knows how to pose people and use little things like jewelry and stuff to make it less "risqué"

So my photographer for my b-pics actually doesn't like doing topless/nude pictures. She claims that the recipient of the pictures can look at your boobies whenever he wants (theoretically) and the point of b-pics are to tease, tantalize, and whet the appetite, so to speak. I thought that was an interesting take.

I did a few where I was technically topless but nothing was showing (my back was to the camera or I was laying on my stomach). But I have b-cups and H is an ass-man, so most of my pics focused on that feature Smiley smile

It depends in your confidence level, etc. I do a lot of implied and full fine art nude for my boudoir body of work, which to me is better because no distracting lines competing with the lines of the body, and unflattering garments, etc. examples

www.farrellgallery.com in implied nude section if you want to make it more subtle, good luck Smiley smile if captured properly, the body is art, not something dirty, American culture seems to have that a little backwards sometimes.

I did sort of a "nipslip" in my boudoir photos, and some "white sheet" shots where you're wearing nothing but the sheet (or it looks that way!) but I think full-on topless might be more porno than boudoir lol. But, see what your photographer thinks. I think these examples are some good ways to do topless while still keeping it boudoir:

Amount or lack of clothing isn't what make the image pornographic, it's the overall tone of the image. I've seen plenty more pornish full clothed images than any full nude in my portfolio.

I think if it is done tastefully then there is nothing wrong with it. Katch Studios is my favorite boudoir photographer and she has some very beautiful topless photos. Her boudoir website is http://www.katchstudios.com/index2.php?v=v1#/home/ for some inspiration Smiley smile
