Both High and Low Centerpieces?

Brianna, on February 7, 2012 at 1:42 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 18

Whats you opinions of mixing in both high and low centerpieces? My hall comes with candelabras, which i hate but FH loves, So i was thinking on having those on half the tables, and doing low 10" floral centerpieces of the other tables...

Thoughts?

I was originally going to go with high/low but decided to go big on all tables...

I was doing high and low but changed to all the same height. The ceilings at the hall we are having are super tall. Honestly, its just what fits in your budget and still looks nice Smiley smile

We are probably doing high/low about a third of the time now. It is becoming very popular and it can be a really nice look. It can also, potentially, save you a little money as the low ones are often less expensive than the tall ones.

The florist had suggested to do tall in the back and low toward the front. so there wont be no obstruction of view to the guests

Personally - I'd go with all the free ones!!! Do you have a pic of them? Are they really bulky and hard to see around?

We are doing high and low. Half the tables will have manzanita branch centerpieces with hanging candles and the other half will have candles in hurricane vases with rose petals. We mostly did it this way to save money but I also like the way it looks to have different size centerpieces. I think the candelabras in the picture are pretty. What is it that you don't like about them?

Whoa! That is some pink uplighting. Smiley smile

I can see the height. I think those would totally work if you decked them out by hanging little crystals or strings of beads from the arms. You could maybe even use flowers on top of the candelabra, or surrounding the perimeter, like these photos.

I would try to make them work b/c they're free. But that's just me being cheapo-bride. Smiley smile

I talked to the lady doing my bouquets, which are made out of real touch flowers, she said for 32 bucks a table she could make floral inserts using Silk hydrangeas and mixing in some of the orchids and plumaria from my bouquets, But I am worried about them looking cheap.

the nice thing is i could sell the inserts when i am done.

I think it depends on how many tables you are going to have.....the more tables you have the better it looks. If you are doing candelabras as the high I would try to incorporate candles into the lows as well. If you need any help please feel free to contact me in the future.

I am also doing High and Low centerpieces. Mine are the manzanita branches with crystal garland then have square vases with a red rose kissing ball on top with rocks and lighting on the insdie. (I think) or maybe a black vase with white flowers and 4 small candles around the square black vase (it will have bling on the front)

I am actually the odd man out LOL I'm doing all low but different shapes three square and three rectangular because I am having a very small intimate ceremony and I personally hate going to a wedding and they have these tall centerpieces and you can't even talk to the person accross from you but I think it all depends on how they are done.

I'm doing a mix of tall and low. The tall will be floral arrangements in 24" eiffel tower vases so they are less than 1.5" in diameter and pretty easy to see around. I have ceilings that open up the the 2nd story of the building so I need something to eat up a little of the space.

My MOH is doing high AND low at her reception; I haven't done my flowers yet but I am curious- what's the price difference usually for high vs. low centerpieces? We want all high but I dont know that we'll be able to afford (10 tables or so)
