Boston Catering Cost?

emily, on January 28, 2014 at 6:40 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

I'm getting married at the Codman Estate in Lincoln MA. They have an exclusive list of caterers: Capers, Swartz, Tastings, Boston Cafe, Tables of Content, East Meets West, Chez Vous, and Chive. Although I have contacted all of them, some have not responded yet and most are reluctant to give me a detailed quote. Has anyone used any of these caterers and what did you end up spending? How many guests?

Thanks!

This is a world-wide forum... so I'm not sure how many brides will have been local enough to you to possibly have used any of these companies.

Did you look at Wedding Wire's vendor boards? Brides often put up reviews of the vendors they've used, so there might be some information there regarding these companies.

Yes I did, not much info. They are popular caterers in Boston so I figured someone had used one of them.

And I thought I posted it for a specific location?

If you select a location I believe it still posts to the all-topics, all-locations general forums, but can then also be found in topic-specific or location-specific pages.

If you don't get much response, this thread might need to be bumped a few times to keep it on the first few pages of the forums, in order to help keep it visible for when Boston-area brides are browsing the pages.

    Good luck!!

My partner says that East Meets West is pricy but is also frickin amazeballs delicious.

You can also try the Massachusetts--Boston board on TheKnot (if you're a WW user who doesn't feel welcome on TK, I can assure you that the local boards are pretty drama-free and full of info). If there isn't already info on these caterers, feel free to post a new topic asking.

I can't speak to your particular caterers, but we got married about an hour from Boston at a venue that also had an exclusive list--Capers and Tastings were both on their list but we went with a different caterer. Our catering costs were a little over $10k for 102 people. That included hors d'ouvres, salad, rolls, entrees (choice of 3, preselected), a 4 tier cake with a different flavor in each tier, all our linens, 2 sets of rented chairs (outside for the ceremony, chiavari ones inside for the reception), tables and their staff. It also included coffee and tea with dessert (they served water with dinner and we paid for soft drinks through our venue and had a cash bar for alcohol).

We are using East Meets West, but they are the exclusive caterer for our venue. To give you an idea, for 70 people (6 passed appetizers, a salad course, choice of three entrees, and late mini-burgers for half our guests, here is the breakdown:

Catering Cost: $4,401.50 (this includes ALL plates, forks, knives, bar glasses, ice, etc. for each course & for us bringing our own dessert)

    Labor Cost: $3,543.00

Bar Cost: $1750.00 (estimate for open bar for our guests)

We tried the food and absolutely loved it. They have lots of creative options.

I hope that helps. I know it sucks to not have any idea what something costs and get bullied into a consult!

Wow really? I thought east meets west would be more expensive than that! When was your wedding?

My wedding is in April of 2014. We picked pretty middle-of-the-road stuff so you could go higher or lower.
