Boob Help

Kate, on March 6, 2020 at 2:06 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 13

I have large boobs - size 34H. The dress has a low neckline and I need a little lift (a lot actually). This picture is from my initial dress try on BEFORE alterations. The seamstress will be sewing in cups after my July fitting. I'm just worried my boobs will sag regardless of the built in cups so I'd like some extra support. Any suggestions? Needs to last through dancing and sweating.

My dress has a similar neckline and I'm also very busty. The sewn in cups didn't do me any favors whatsoever, so I opted out of them. I found a plunging front strapless bra on Amazon that was the best strapless bra I've ever worn. I also used a couple of pieces of fashion tape to hold them in place exactly where I wanted them to be. I didn't have any trouble the entire evening!

Boob tape! SKIMS or The Kit sell it and show tutorials on how to best use it.

Sure thing! I got this one in beige, only strapless bra I've ever worn that I didn't have to keep pulling up all night. It didn't budge at all and I was perfectly comfortable.

Oh yeah you suggested that bra to me. I thought you had a different one lol. I bought that in black and I can't say I had the same success but it was not bad. I wore a body con dress which luckily kept the girls in place but kind of like the pic I had spillage lol. It was comfortable other wise though and would wear with a fitted outfit.

Sorry, I should have said this but the back is sheer with beading so I can't wear a bra! glad that worked for you though! I'll keep that in mind for other dresses.

I got a clear bra because my back is see through. I have to wear a bra or I'd have the same problem

    Boob tape?

I'm 32D/34C (so not big, but not tiny) and my dress is a deep v-neck, low back, and all illusion mesh on top and my boobs are not particularly perky on their own. I bought some silicone "chicken cutlets" but they don't provide a ton of support, so I might try boob tape to see if that helps, but I'm worried I won't get enough "lift" without the tape showing.

Honestly your boobs look pretty damn good in that dress as is, but if you wanted some extra lift some boob tape might help because you have wider straps. Good luck, and let me know how it turns out!

Hi Kari - I'm wondering what you ended up doing bra wise for your dress? Mine is similar in that it is low front and very low back (it's actually strapless too) and I have a similar size to you. Thank you!

I'm top heavy and cups do absolutely nothing for support regardless of your size. Pretty much all they do is provide a buffer so your nipples are not on display. I recently tried therabbitbra.com based on countless reviews I've seen online and was shocked at how well it works.

Due to Covid, we postponed our wedding until May of 2021 so I still haven't had the built in bra sewn in yet. I did buy Kim K's boob tape (skims). I tried it with a top and it has potential, I just need to practice more with how to place the tape strategically. It felt secure, but I really didn't test it out too much because I have some extra time now.

We ended up having a Covid elopement so I just used the silicone cutlets. They weren't super supportive but helped some, and since we had a really short ceremony it was fine because I wasn't doing any intense dancing, sweating, or wearing them for 10+ hours. They might also have worked for a full wedding and reception too, I just don't know.

I do think the ones I used would show with a strapless dress though (they are kind of teardrop shaped). Have you tried a NuBra? If your dress has a sweetheart neckline and isn't too low in the front that might work without showing and would likely provide a little more lift and support than just cutlets. I have a silicone NuBra that works great for backless dresses but would have shown with the low cut front of my dress.

I also ended up getting some boob tape but didn't have a chance to test it before our elopement so was worried about having a reaction to the adhesive or not applying it correctly and then having the tape show or have red irritated skin. I do want to try the boob tape sometime before our bigger event next year because I think it might work well, but I wasn't willing to risk it right before the ceremony. I have very fair skin so if the tape was too harsh for me and ripped or irritated my skin there would have been no way to hide it.
