Bolero jacket / cover-up / shawl wearing brides??

Catherine & Nick, on June 23, 2015 at 12:06 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 11

Even though I love my sweetheart neckline strapless dress, my Catholic conservative mother would like me to cover up my cleavage during the Catholic ceremony. I've been scouring Pinterest and Etsy for ideas, but nothing has struck my fancy yet. Did anyone wear a jacket or cover-up for their wedding or ceremony? I would love to see pictures!!

I've seen pictures of people wearing something like this for the ceremony and removing it for the reception. Quite a few churches have rules about requiring straps/sleeves, so you might want to check with the church on their rules.

I wore one because my wedding was in the middle of winter. It was my "something borrowed"

I will be covering up during the ceremony and probably through dinner. I've linked my dress, there's a picture of the matching lace jacket that goes with it. It buttons up the back and is very easy to get in and out of. I would check and see if your dress designer has anything, that will it will be more likely to compliment your dress.

I like a lot of the "toppers" here

@Jacqui, those are cute! But sadly I didn't want to spend that much for a topper I would only wear for the ceremony =(

They are pricey! Most bridal shops would have something similar. Also search on etsy for capelet, shawl, wrap, etc. bhldn may have some toppers in the sale section of their site. I didn't check there.

Davids Bridal having a huge sale, I was just looking at them today. I would love to wear a faux fur one, and with your winter wedding, it would be perfect. I see them everywhere for reasonable $$

I was at the mall and found one that would work with my dress. Only cost $30.

I am wearing this off the shoulder bolero from tulip bridal online. It was $100 and is wonderful quality. I love love it. They didn't have anything like this at DB. I wanted to cover up a little but didn't want to wear a droopy piece of cloth.

My friend wore a beaded capelet and it was so pretty! I wish I would have thought of it before I bought my dress. They are pricey though :-/

@RhnCasi, we live in San Diego, so we won't be having much of a "winter" wedding Smiley winking But the faux fur definitely would work if it was cold!

@Michelle, I just looked up Tulip Bridal... they have great affordable options... thanks!!
