BM David's Bridal Dress Too Small...

Anna, on September 19, 2017 at 6:10 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

So glad to be on WW where I see these things happen. Not freaking out just looking for plausible solutions. This particular BM has never been to a wedding before and accidentally ordered her dress from David's Bridal in her actual size. I tried to warn her beforehand they run small and to try it on in the store first but I don't think it clicked until after she ordered it online. You cannot change your order from online, we tried, so she decided to stick it out and see what happened. Now the dress came in last night and she said it is 100% too small, like she would have to loose 30 lbs too small.

Right now I am just tying to be supportive to her, like I said I am not freaking out but she feels pretty devastated. She lives in FL and will be traveling to GA a day or two before the wedding. Wedding is less than a month away. She said it would take at least two to order a new one, which financially I don't want to do to her either. Who has had this happened? What did you do? Thanks!!

This is the dress in wine. She is tall so I'll have to ask if she ordered extra length or not.

Hey date twin! Go to a seamstress as soon as possible to get an idea of what they can do. They can work some serious magic sometimes. In all reality though she may just have to get a different dress Smiley sad

DB told me 2 months for my dress and I had it in a week. If it's in stock it might be quicker.

I would go to the store (is there one near you?) and try to exchange it. Ask if they have it in their warehouse or not and what you other options are.

Yes that was my first thought, talk to the seamstress at the store. I'll keep everyone posted!

Go to a local store n see if they can help find that dress in the right size at a nearby location n start calling around for a good seamstress hat can fit her into their schedule...may be able to let it out.

David's Bridal allows you to exchange dresses for equal or smaller value. Just have her go to the store. A seamstress isn't going to be able to add that fabric especially to the length.

Hi! david's employee here! from what i can think of, here are your options:

    1) go in and see if you can exchange! the stylist will see if you have enough time to get that dress in that color within the time frame you need.

2)if you dont have time to order a new one, see if they have one off the rack that you can exchange! we always clean these when people buy them so it would not be dirty!

3)if they dont have one off the rack, have your davids bridal see if any other david's carry this dress off the rack. they will call around all over the country and if they are able to locate one, they can have that dress shipped to their store and you can exchange it! easy peasy!

    4) if you cant do any of these things, have your dress altered. note that DB dresses can only be made maximum one size bigger or two sizes smaller! you always want to keep alterations as your last option in order to save!

    hope that helps!

I had that happen. I actually tried on a 10 in store and it fit perfect, I walked/ran daily and dieted and when the dress came in I couldn't zip it all the way! I went to DB and they found the same dress off the rack at another store. The manager from that store drove out to get the dress and bring it to the location i ordered the dress from.

I was so relieved and it was a great experience.

What size is she looking for? I happen to have a friend that has that exact dress in that exact color she's been wanting to part with.

This exact thing happened with one of my BM she didn't listen when I told her they run small. So about a month prior to my wedding she went online and had to order a different style dress and it was to her in a couple days.
