Blue Nile Engagement Rings

JENNIFER, on July 31, 2018 at 11:36 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 31
Has anyone purchased their engagement rings from Blue Nile? Hesitant buying from an online store. But if you have would love to see your ring and hear your opinions. Thanks

FH purchased my diamond from there, but purchased the band from a local store. He would absolutely recommend it! I'll post a picture in a minute.

Fh custom designed my ring from Blue Nile and it's perfect. It came really fast, shipping was awesome, the box was unmarked so I had no idea, and customer service was excellent. FH was able to pick out the diamond he wanted and the band.

I love my ring and when we looked at wedding bands in a few stores, the consultants expressed that my ring was perfect and the diamond was gorgeous.

It also came with all of the paperwork to verify the diamond and GIA certification. They have a flagship store in New York. They're very legit, affordable, and reliable.

Great! I would love to see it. We were looking online cause it seems like you get more bang for your buck. Plus it says they have a great return policy.

You definitely get more bang for your buck and you have way more freedom. My ring cost FH just over $1000 and at a local Zales or Kays it would have cost $2000 for the same ring that everyone already has.

I love my ring from Blue Nile and my fiance really liked designing it. I had it appraised at a jeweler because I had never heard of Blue Nile and the value is spot on with what was paid.

Sister wanted diamond flanked by 3/4 karat rubies. Had it apprised on receipt. Was exactly as promised. But she was not happy that the stones were heat treated to reach that darker red ruby which is more valuable than lighter shades. They thought it a great de next to same size diamond and 2 natural, untreated rubies. But appraised pointed out, on the site, and papers for the ring, it said the rubies were heat treated. So they honestly advertised what they sold. An appraisal was for about 5% more than cost including delivery. They looked around at comparable rings with heat treated rubies, and found Blue Nile price was better than any, all a little over appraiser's estimate. Which means they paid at least %5 less than comparable in store rings. So they kept it.

I’m glad you mentioned the custom ring. My FH wants me to have something different and unique, that would be perfect. I love the ring he proposed to me with but he doesn’t. Thank you so much this helps a lot

Warning, long story. The cliffs notes are that Blue Nile is ok, but James Allen was more accommodating for me.

haven’t had a great experience with Blue Nile, and ended up going with James Allen. I will say this in favor of BN: their customer service team is friendly and as long as you don’t want the slightest bit of change to their stock designs, you’re in good hands.

Heres where it went wrong for me: I wanted an emerald cut, set east-west, on a micropave band. I called to confirm that it was an option, they said yes, and told me when I would receive it. The night it was supposed to ship, I called for tracking info and they couldn’t provide it. They called back later and said they couldn’t make my ring. Devastated would be an understatement. That was Friday. They called me on Monday and offered one other option that might work. It had side stones; not at all like what I wanted. Hours later they offered another option with a VERY chunky band. The thing is, James Allen, Brilliant Earth, and Adiamor ALL can make the ring I wanted.

I had chosen BN because I liked their diamond selection and they had the best financing options, but we wound up using James Allen because they could make my ring exactly how I wanted. BN couldn’t even come to the table with a comparable option, even after I pointed out that ALL their competitors could.

OMG! First off love what you ring looks like! I don’t know anything about diamonds. I had to look up your design online. That emerald cut facing east-west stunning! I’ve never seen a ring like that! GORGEOUS. A lot of other brides said they used that same site so we will look at both. I’ve always wanted a Halo ring but it’s mostly because I don’t know anything about different styles. I’ll have to research first. Thank you so much

Thank you! It was a terrible ordeal so now I’m just waiting for James Allen to ship it. Fingers crossed!

Halos are so pretty! My other possible option was an oval with a halo. I didn’t want it on the emerald cut because i think what’s amazing about the cut is the simplicity. Halos can help to support the prongs so your stone doesn’t slip out. A friend of mine has one and her advice was that you may want to work with a local jeweler for a halo setting because the big websites use a generic setting- meaning there may be gaps between your halo and your stone. It doesn’t bother everyone but if that’s a thing that would bother you, order your loose stone and work with someone to custom set it Smiley smile

Thanks for the suggestion with the Halo rings. See these are things I wouldn’t even think of! I was looking at Neil Lane’s but his you pay way more for less but he does have some clearance ones half off that aren’t too bad.

Thank you! I think so too but I understand him wanting to get me something he feels I deserve. We’ve had a very bumpy crazy relationship. He’s been in the army for 13 years and deployed for 5 in Iraq and Afghanistan. If anything he’s the one who deserves a way out of this world wedding ring!

I was going to purchase a ring from Blue Nile that I fell in love with to reset the diamond from my grandmothers ring (It is on just a plain gold band) , they refuse to sell just the settings. That was disappointing. I would have loved the Petal Pave engagement ring they have as a semi mount and the matching band, but they only sell with a diamond purchase as well. The rings are beautiful and fun to design though.
