Black shoes for the bride?!?

Amanda, on November 1, 2016 at 7:59 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

I got some shoes for the wedding and while they are absolutely gorgeous, the heel is too high for me to wear them all night. I'm very picky with shoes, plus I have wide feet so finding a good and comfortable option has been difficult! Yesterday, I found these shoes and they fit really well, and I know I would be able to dance in them. They meet all my criteria: close toe, wedge, low heel, wide, suede. But they're black! My wedding colors are blush, silver, gold, and grayed jade and my dress is ivory. I'm not sure if it will look silly to be wearing black shoes with a wedding gown when black is not one of our colors! I've seen it on brides who have black in their weddings, but not otherwise. I went online to see if they carried the shoe in a lighter color; they have it in "nude" but it is not suede, it's patent leather, which I'm not crazy about. Is it weird for a bride to wear black shoes? Which shoe do you think will look better?

These are the nude patent ones. I'm not sure how pink these nude shoes really are... in other photos on another website they looked more tan which makes me nervous! Not sure what to do...

I wore black shoes, but that's just my style. I got lots of compliments on my shoes actually. For the most part, if you're wearing a long dress people won't even see them. If they're comfy and you like them I say go for it.

If I had to make a decision, I would go with the black. I don't see anything wrong with wearing black shoes! Smiley smile Plus as you said they're comfortable and that's what's most important!

I think it is totally fine to wear black shoes. And you can always add some gold to your black shoes. I am working on glitzing my own shoes because I couldn't find anything I liked. I found this gold fabric glitter that you can spray on them. It isn't overpowering them and it would incorporate your colors.

I don't think anyone is going to care. I mean whatever shoes you wear those will be your wedding shoes and people will see them in an elevated light regardless. Those shoes look comfy which is important, I say go black!

@Vandekerklove, what is the name of the fabric glitter? I would love to know! I was thinking of doing something similar to glam it up, either by adding a brooch/appliqué or adding rhinestones or something, glitter sounds fun too especially if it is a bit more subdued!

I think the black shoes are fine. They're cute and look super comfy which is all that matters! You definitely won't get the side eye for wearing black shoes.

I'm still a bit torn! Is the patent leather too informal for a wedding?

Are people even going to be seeing your shoes? Is your dress short? I like either of them.

I think suede would be more informal than patent leather.

Can you order the nude and if they are not the right color, exchange them for the black?

No the dress is long. I guess that's a good point. I just know that sometimes especially when you're dancing sometimes your shoes peek out. I was worried more that it might look odd in photos.
