Bird cage card holder completed! *pic*

Mrs. Noratel, on January 13, 2014 at 2:09 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 16

So today I completed our card holder. Probably took me about an hour and a half to complete. I think I did a pretty good job. Yesterday we painted the plaque on it white and I painted the letters and glued them on. Today I did all the rest of it. The sides have some of the same detail as well. What do you ladies think?

It's so cute! I've been thinking about a birdcage card holder too. I found some on Etsy I like, but they're $75-150. How much did you spend on your supplies, if you don't mind my asking?

MissMadeline - I'll give you my ivory birdcage for free. No deco on it. I had just tied a ribbon around it.

Let me know if you're interested.

CUTE! I have been also thinking about doing a birdcage card holder as well. I was going to look at Michaels and Hobby Lobby and see if I could find something for cheap. Where did you get all of your supplies?

We're planning on doing a birdcage card holder too. Since FH and I have hummingbirds throughout our decor, it just makes sense. Smiley smile I haven't figured out exactly what kind yet though.

@MissMadeline, I've found the same thing, that they are SO expensive everywhere, but today I randomly saw on oriental trading they sell a white or black one for $20, and all the reviews are great! I might order one and spray paint it gold!

Thanks ladies! I'm glad you all love it as much as I do. Just turned on some music and got to work. Surprisingly I didn't burn my fingertips with hot glue as much as I thought I would.

    For all of my supplies:

Oriental Trading- Bird cage, $20, I believe

Michaels Craft store- wood plaque (.85), wood letters ($2 for a pack), pink paint ($2), "greenery" ($6)

GandGwebstore (online)- butterflies, about $4 for a pack of 24 butterflies..have to have a minimum purchase of $30, but was easy for us since it's butterfly themed. They sell tons of other stuff too like silk flowers, etc.

The white paint for the plaque we just used leftover paint we had from the house.

@TriniGirl44 - It took me maybe an hour and a half to do it. Yesterday we painted the plaque white and did the pink letters and all. Today did all the other details to it. Just used small dots of hot glue to hold the greenery in place where I weaved it.
