Best wines?

Sarah, on January 27, 2022 at 11:10 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 3 14
I like sweet wine.. I think dry wine is absolutely disgusting to me (Pictured is one of my favorite wines) ... My sister said this wine is to sweet for a wedding. But I want 2 different options of wine... Help me out since I’m not a huge drinker!Best wines? 1

I tend to like sweet wines as well. It's your wedding so you get to choose what you want. If I were you, I'd choose the sweet wine (the one you like) and another wine -- a drier white or red wine just in case you have guests that are not into sweet wines.

Moscato is pretty sweet to be served with dinner. It's intended to be a dessert wine.

I would get a dry red cabernet and an unoaked chardonnay to go with dinner.

Most wine drinkers and certainly the masses would not prefer Moscato. I would go with a Cabernet for red and Pinot Grigio for white.

You could always have a dry red and white and a bottle or two just for you and your FH. My fiance and I are just serving wine but neither of us are big wine drinkers and plan to have a few wine coolers just for us at our sweetheart table.

Moscato would not appeal to most wine drinkers at a "with dinner" type of wine. I'd go with a sauvingnon blanc or pinot grigio.

Cabernet is a red wine. I would think a red and a white in the mid-range would work well. Maybe ask the bartender or caterer to help pick some choices based on your planned menu.

Ask your friends and what they prefer since they will be drinking it.

Cabernet is the driest of red wines. Most don’t prefer sweet wines, but it all depends on your crowd.
Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon are the most popular whites.

Are you limited to 2? If not I’d choose 2 crowd pleasers (one white, one red), but then also add your fave to the selection. I would offer it to everyone , but if you’re supplying your own, you don’t have to stock as many bottles of the sweet

I also tend to prefer sweeter wines, and I can't do red at *all* because I can taste the tannins, but H prefers drier wines and particularly likes reds (it works out, I get my own, and he gets his own). We had a chardonnay, a riesling (a sweeter one, that I would drink) and for reds we had a merlot and a red blend (Drops of Jupiter from Save Me, San Francisco Wine Co.). Everyone seemed happy with the options. We also had 4 different kinds of beer, soda, diet soda, and water.

That sounds like a great plan! I forget about rieslings, because I tend to go on the drier side.

Sweet wines would be a big “no” in my circle. Usually Chardonnay for white, Merlot for a red will be popular with most people.

Okay this is my favorite wine too so I get it! Check out a sauvignon blanc... Its fruitier than other whites so seems sweeter to me but not too sweet for dinner. Otherwise a lot of people like chardonnay or pinot grigio for white wines.
