Best Traditional Catholic Wedding Dresses?

Haley, on February 13, 2018 at 5:27 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 15
I'm searching for a modest, but gorgeous wedding dress. Preferably long sleeve, but am open to other ideas. Please show pictures if you have them ❤️😊

I've looked at those but not very flattering for my body type. Great idea though!

I highly recommend just going to a bridal salon and telling them what you want! Looking at photos just doesn't work the same way, and you really need to see them in person. Keep an open mind! Telling the bridal shop you are look for a modest dress with long sleeves should be a perfect amount of guidance to send them in the right direction, then you can narrow down your search.

A lot of Catholic brides wear a strapless dress with a bolero over it for the ceremony.

I was going to suggest latterdaybride.com but saw your comment. Is there a modest dress shop near you? We have one in Washington. Also, allure and a lot of others have modest lines 😊

Alta moda specializes in modest gowns and they are all beautiful! They're based in utah but do video consultations and I've rarely seen a dress there that I don't love. I was also looking for a modest gown and every place I went had a couple of options, so I would just go into any salon and check what they have!

All of the above. If you can find a good seamstress, she could add sleeves to a dress that you like.

I bought a strapless not because of the cut but for the low price. I just couldn’t justify paying more for my dress than feeding my guests. Im going to order a bridal topper to wear underneath. I think I’ve seen them at BHLDN.

Hi! Fellow Traditional Catholic bride here Smiley smile I got my dress at DB and had them add 3/4 length sleeves. My advice is to tell your consultant what kind of coverage you're looking for so she can help you find what you want. It really is tough to find modest dresses these days, but thank goodness for alterations! The pic attached is from my alterations appointment. Note that the extra material at the top of the sleeves will not be there when the dress is complete, lol. The seamstress will also take lace from my dress to sew onto the sleeves to make it look like the sleeves were a part of the original dress!

TL;DR: If you find a sleeveless dress you love, add sleeves. Seamstresses are magicians. Smiley smile

You're right about seamstresses being magicians! Amazing how different the two looks are. Both beautiful but they look like two different dresses.

I'm also a Catholic bride. I ordered a strapless dress with extra material so the seamstress will be able to make sleeves on the dress using the exact material.

I am trying to work this out as well, and I didn't not want to add sleeves to my dress. I'm thinking about something like this to cover my arms, but this particular piece hangs down in front of the belt embellishments. I was previously thinking about a cape for my arms, but I cannot figure out how the cape and traditional veil would get along. I am a very new traditional catholic (to be confirmed on Easter!) and feeling more anxious about this than expected, so thank you for the question!
