Best time to buy wedding dress

CAA, on March 18, 2018 at 1:55 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
Hey all!

My wedding is next July 2019. I am currently living overseas in Dubai and wedding dresses here are insanely priced. I will be home next week for my spring break to look at venues. Is it too early to look/buy now? I know it takes a couple months for the dresses to come in once ordered, plus alterations. I’ll be home again in July for the summer and then most likely in December again for Christmas. My worry is that if I wait until the summer to look/buy, it won’t be in by the time I come home in December to start fittings alterations. But then I worry that if I buy so early I might see something else I love later lol. I’d love to get your thoughts/experiences!

You can always look and get an idea/style #. You can always ask the sales people how long it takes to get the dress in order to know if it's there in time for you to try it on in December.

I bought my dress about 12.5 months out from the wedding. Keep in mind that it does take about 6-8 months for a dress to come in normally.

I live abroad too, in China. I am getting married this July, and luckily found mine when I went home over Chinese New Year... the earlier the better, I think. People thought I should get something here, but I just got here, and don't know a good place to go! Besides, here I am a giant!

I bought my dress in July 2017 and I'm getting married in Noember. Personally, I thought it was too early. I've already lost a lot of weight and I'm going to pay it for it dearly when it comes to alterations. When you're home, you could start trying on dresses to see which silhouettes you like the best. Just my opinion!

I would have gone to a tailor and picked fabric and had it custom made! I bet it would have been a lot cheaper than buying in North America.

We seriously considered flying to China to have attire custom made when I saw an airfare sale. Last time I was there we had beautiful clothes made so cheaply.

I think you could definitely start looking over your spring break, and if you don't find anything look in July. I'm probably going to shop in June for my June 2019 wedding!

I would say purchase 9 -12 months in advance.
