Best man & groomsmen

Desirae, on February 5, 2019 at 10:38 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
So my soon to be husband has his best man decided & all his groomsmen & is ready to ask them but he’s not sure how & honestly i’m not sure neither. i know we both want it to be special for them but not too cheesy. one of his groomsmen is also in the navy & we wanted that to be really special because my FH doesn’t see him that often but it’s really important that he tries to be there (but we understand if he can’t). we have looked online to find ideas & a lot of them have to do with alcohol but none of them really drink. anyone have any ideas on how to ask guys to be your best man/groomsmen?

Just call or take them to dinner and ask. The fact that you’re asking someone to be in your wedding is already special without some over the top “proposal.” They also put a ton of pressure on your friends to say yes, even if they want to say no. Just ask.

Have FH ask them out for a round of golf (or Top Golf), and he can ask them there!? If Navy friend isn't available, he can do it over video chat. No need for cheesy gifts when it comes to asking guys....most guys don't care about that stuff.

We sent boxes for the groomsmen with a personalized coke bottle ("Have a coke with my groomsman?") and a whiskey bottle, with a cute card from Etsy. They loved them!

If they have a favorite thing get them something custom or personalized each. (I.e. if they like video games and their favorite game of all time is Final Fantasy 7 then get them a customized razor that looks like the blade from that game (I think it was like $20-$30)) if that’s too much just ask them to dinner at your house or out somewhere and ask them there. Good luck!!

I wanted to get them all a little something too but FH kind of poo pooed it saying "guys don't care about that stuff" so he just called them on the phone once we settled on a date and said of course you're a groomsman (best man) and that was it. I am going to get each of them a ManCrate the day of. They are a little more expensive (especially since there are 5 of them) but since we didn't spend anything while asking them I'm happy to spend a little more on a thank you gift. They don't really drink either and ManCrates have all kinds of different things outside of booze.

They are all from out of state as well so with the extra cost of a flight out also helps me justify the cost.

Should he ask them all out to dinner at the same time or do individual dinners?

I would go with separate if possible since it could be awkward to say no in front of a group of friends who are all saying yes.
