Our best friends just got married on Saturday. They used the song "Thinking out loud" by Ed S. that FH and I picked out. We get married in December. WWYD? Use that song or find another? I think we might use it. Only a few common friends will be guests at both weddings and who is really going to...

It's a super popular song, just like All of Me was last year. Still go ahead and use it, it's not a big deal. It's ours too. Smiley smile We changed it to that from our original one because it loved the beat and words.

That is a very popular song. So pick a different song if it bothers you. By the date of your wedding there will be another song that pops up that will be just like that one. If you are that worried about other people taking your song you will have to choose a more unique song.

If it was an obscure song that you relayed to her I can say you have a right to be a little miffed.

However you are using the song that is played at 50% of weddings. Sorry. It's like the 90's "I'll Be" by Edwin McCain.

Trust me. No one is going to remember or care about it. I hate to sound mean, but half of these guests will not even be paying attention.

Everyone used that song this year. When you chose a popular song you have to expect that. We intentionally avoided those super popular songs and chose one that was more personal but people would still know. So far I've only seen one other WW bride who used the song we did. Chose another one if you want to.

No one will remember but you're friend. And they'll think it's sweet, not that you copied them.

This thread makes me laugh. Because its so irrational but I see your point. But the last 3 out of 4 weddings I have gone to that has been their wedding song. I only remember because FH and I have an ongoing joke about that particular song. No one will notice or care. Do the song you want.

It's so popular right now like other people have said. My cousin just got married last weekend and that was their song. If I were you I would pick another song, not because your friends are using it, but because everyone else and their mother are using it this year and I would want something more unique. I've never heard another couple use the song FH and I have picked and I'm keeping it a secret so my friends getting married before us don't try to use it lol. I have a friend getting married in September and her song is Amazed which is another overdone and unoriginal song.

I think the majority of the weddings I went this last summer/fall everyone was using John Legend's All of Me. You'll be fine. I wouldn't switch it just because someone else is using too. No one will even pay attention and the ones that do and mention something to you about copying are being petty.

@jsarge it's not always a sense of entitlement it's not wanting to be the same as everyone else.

You've picked the most overused wedding song of 2015. Of course someone else used it too. If you really like it, go with it. I doubt anyone will think twice about it.

    pretty much this.

Most of the guests are awkwardly wondering about cake and booze.

We are in the predicament that the majority of our friends got married within the last 2-3 years. However, out of all of those weddings (10+), I only remember three of the songs. One was Jason Mraz's 'I Won't Give Up' and the other two were throwbacks (Etta James and Frank Sinatra). In other words, I only remember the unique ones or the ones that had personal meaning to me. Chances are your guests will be the same way.

Hate to break it to ya, lol, but thousands of people will be using this song! What's the big deal? It's been voted the most popular wedding song for 2015/16

If I were you, I would still use it. My distant cousin used a particular song when she walked down the aisle. I also wanted to use the same song and I will. It meant something to me and my FH voted that he wanted me to walk in on that song as well. So that's what I'm going with. Her wedding was last October mine is July so I doubt if anyone will remember and if they do, oh well.

That's our first dance song too. It's a popular one for this year. I don't care, because it's been one of my favorites since it came out. Do what makes you happy, I don't think anyone else will notice.

You'll just be along with the rest of America who picked a top song at the time for their first dance instead of coming up with something else. No one will notice someone else had the same one and think OMG they copied them, more likely they will hear the song and if they've been to other weddings think oh this song again.

That song was SO big this year, there are going to be a million couples using it as a first dance song, it's hardly like your friend can "claim" it!
