Best dress designers for mid size/ plus size women

Kendall, on March 28, 2021 at 5:30 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 15
Just curious which designers any midsize/plus size girls had good luck with! I’m going to start dress shopping in June and don’t want to get my heart set on a dress that may not fit me.

Essence of Australia is very inclusive with sizes and the dresses are gorgeous. My dress is from them. You can check my posts, I posted some pictures of it if you’d like to see the type of dresses they have

All of the Maggie Sottero lines go to larger sizes. But there also some dresses not just is the bigger measurements, but recut for fuller more supported bustlines, other structure that makes them more flattering. Click Curves. Or look through the Collection and spot the twins.

Above- go to each one separately and see how proportioned in each body area are altered to best fit body type.
Jasmine Bridal does well for a lot of plus size, except if you are short.

I highly recommend Stella York and Essence of Australia! I searched their websites for local stores that carried their dresses and that’s how I chose where to go dress shopping. Both designers actually have larger size samples IN the store! I was a Size 14-16, but that’s typically a sample size 18-20 in most designers and I found it difficult to find sample sizes that I could actually try on my body.

My dress was a Maggie Sottero, so I second the above recommendation. I'm very busty and struggle to find bras that fit, but the sweetheart neckline of my dress actually had to be taken in, which was mind blowing to me lol.

Definitely look into Stella York!! When I went dress shopping there were plenty in a size 20 to try on. I also love that the dress I picked, and many others I tried on, were made of a great material that sucked me in and were super slimming. I ended up with a mermaid dress that I never thought I could pull off!!

I wouldn’t worry about designers too much. Call local bridal shops and ask if they carry plus size gowns then have fun trying on different designers! 💕

Nearly every designer has plus sizes (many up to 28) available. Call a local dress shop to see what is in stock to try on. Also, Torrid just started a line of wedding dresses.

    Hello

I am also a plus-size bride, there are many designers who caterer to plus-size brides, and most styles can go all the way up to size 32. take your time and look at what type you want. what is your body type? I am tall but my problem area is my stomach, my accents are my but and hips I have a hell of an hourglass figure, so I leaned toward more of the fit and flare and mermaid silhouettes, I stayed away from ball gowns because they drew attention to my stomach and made me look bigger then I am. I would also try on more styles I swore I would not get a fit and flare because I was too fat for them, my dress is a fit and flare. so I made a list of the must haves and I think you should too here is what my dream list said

    1. must have lace

    2.must make me feel bridal

3.heck no to a fit and flare yes this is what I got

4.must have a long train I am so glad that I didn't listen to this because mine has a shorter train which will be easier to bustle.

    5. must have an illusion back it made me feel like it was something extra and added a little bit of sexiness to the dress.

    6. must show off the hips

    7. must have bling,

I kinda bent off my rules but I was so happy that I did, here is a picture of my dress for reference
