So FHs grandmother has informed us that she wants to get us some pots and pans for our gift. Shes wanting to spend between $300-400. Id love any recommendations for brands or material types. Ive only ever had cheap walmart non stick pans from college days so I don't really know anything about pans. ...

Le Crueset hands down, or anything cast iron.

My aunt got us a calphalon set. She's going to give it to us at our shower next week. I can't wait!!! I'm in the name boat. I've had a Martha Stewart box set that I got on sale at Macy's since I graduated college and they kind of suck.

It really depends on what you are looking for:

If you want stainless steel then I suggest you go for All-Clad, Demeyere or Cristel

If you want cast iron/ ceramic then go for Le Creuset or Staub

If you want copper then go for Mauviel or Ruffoni

Most of these you can find at Williams-Sonoma but if you want a really good deal you should check out http://www.dasallas.com ... they offer free shipping and this is where I am going to get most of the items I need for my cousins wedding gift.
