Belated Reception

Chloe, on September 7, 2020 at 1:04 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
Originally, my husband and I had plans to have a small destination wedding and then a bigger at home reception (my extended family really wanted us to have this home reception). Thankfully, COVID didn't ruin our ceremony on March 14. However, our back at home reception had to be held off. We are thinking we might have to wait more toward our Anniversary, but at that point I'm unsure of what to do. I was really looking forward to wearing my dress again and my family really wanted to see it, but feel it might be weird a year after (very disappointing) I also don't even know how to word the invites. I'm kind of just discouraged as I'm sure so many of you are that had to change dates, though very thankful my husband and I were able to still have the destination part.

You should definitely wear your dress again if you want to! A lot of people with postponed receptions are doing that.

Will you be doing a vow renewal or anything like that, or just the reception portion?

I don't think a year later would be too late! Many people are doing small ceremonies this year, and larger receptions next year. I would definitely recommend wearing your dress again! If you're doing another ceremony next year, maybe word the invites as a vow renewal? Otherwise, if just doing the reception, either word it as "a celebration of your wedding" or "wedding reception"?

With COVID this has become very popular. I would absolutely wear your dress again. You could do a vow renewal or just a reception but either way it’s a time to celebrate with family and friends.

I think you should wear your dress! Due to Covid, nothing is normal anymore. Your guests will really enjoy seeing you all dressed up. You could also do a vow renewal if you wanted to.

Another option is to wear your dress for the first hour or 2, and then change into something more casual if you're more comfortable that way.

I am all for wearing dresses twice! That is what I am doing for my minimony and big wedding next year. Not everyone has seen your dress, and how many brides have the opportunity to wear their dresses for two occasions? You should definitely do it, whether it is another ceremony, vow renewal, or just a party, I think everyone will love to see you in it!

Wear you dress any time that you can! Just call it a vow renewal.

Sorry for such a belated response, and thank you for your input.. We were thinking probably just a reception/party, but at this point with our anniversary coming up and the whole COVID stuff, I'm thinking maybe we should just hold off and eventually do an actual renewal sometime in the future unless thing clear up really fast.

I don't think there is a bride that wouldn't want to wear their dress again! I really hope I get the chance. And that is great! What is your date for your big celebration? Do you think it will be in the clear? Sorry for such a late response. I appreciate the feedback Smiley smile

Thank you all for your kind input! 2020 was really not a normal year at all! I'm hoping 2021 begins to turn around sooner rather than later for us all Smiley smile
