Beer drinkers?? Help please!

CHEYENNE, on September 2, 2016 at 1:40 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

I still need to pick up the alcohol for my wedding (in 9 days)... so I need to make a choice ASAP and pick it up tonight the only problem? I know nothing about beer. Can you lovely ladies/gentlemen give me ideas on 2-4 beers I should serve at the wedding. (Budget friendly but still good). I have already gotten wine both red and white.

    I'd offer:

    1. NewCastle

    2. Rolling Rock/Bud/Bud Light/Bud Light Lime (something along these lighter lines)

    3. Blue Moon or Hoegaarden

    4. Guiness if you want a stout, or some kind of IPA. (I'm no help as I HATE IPAs)

I agree with Blue Moon and Stella. You can do a lager like Sam or Yuengling. As for IPAs, I'm not a fan of them and don't think they're super popular. I would avoid stouts, it's not really the season for it yet.

Blue moon and Sam Adams are usually crowd pleasers. Sam Adams Boston Lager is wonderful

We did local craft beers since so many people were travelling in for our wedding, and people loved it. We made sure to have a pale ale, IPA, stout and lager.

We're doing Blue Moon, Yuengling and Miller Lite. It's what is "popular" in our area/among our guests.

I agree with the suggestions above. You definitely want a nice variety. A light lager (Bud/Miller/Coors Light would be fine, but Stella would be better), a fruity/wheat beer (Blue Moon is a great choice, or Shock Top has some nice options), an IPA (Sierra Nevada is a crowd pleaser) and a stout or porter would be good. Maybe in place of the stout/porter, since it's (almost) fall, an amber or Oktoberfest would be a hit, I bet. Maybe even a pumpkin beer! Stout/porters are more for winter, so if you have warmer weather, your guests may not have an appetite for it.

What local breweries are near you? Can you do kegs at your venue? If you go to a local brewery, the owners/bartenders will be thrilled to talk with you about the best options for your wedding. Even if you're just at a Sam's or Costco, the employees in the liquor area will be able to guide you.

Sam Adams Summer is really nice, and since summer is winding down it's the perfect chance to get it. We New Englanders love our Sam lol. But they have an autumn brew that's nice too. Can't go wrong with the Boston Lager either.

ITA with Stella, Blue Moon, and Newcastle. And then a classic, like Budweiser.

I would try to go for local breweries. There's one next door to our venue and they're supplying all of the beer for our wedding. Trying to figure out a cute way to set up "FH's Beer Bar". And it's Oktoberfest season so I would definitely try to incorporate one of those for your wedding.

Would Coors light, blue moon (or shocktop), Sierra Nevada, and Newcastle be a good variation?

I'm not ignoring suggestions just know NOTHING of beer. This by far has been the hardest part of planning.

I would for sure do at least 1 domestic (Budlight, Coors Light etc), 1 import (Corona, DosXX), one "fruity" beer (Blue Moon, Shocktop) and depending on your guest list maybe try a craft beer? That way you know you got some type of beer that everyone likes.

It depends on the crowd---I know that I would need a mix of old man beers and craft beers.

I think a happy medium would be like: Yuengling, Heineken/Miller Light, an IPA (I like Namaste), and Blue Moon.

ETA: We have a local brewery, so I would include a beer from there. If you have one near by, maybe consider adding one from there. You can usually go grab a flight and taste them. Smiley smile

2 beers- go lightish- and darkish

    An IPA and a porter/lager

    4 beers?

1.) LIGHT (micolob dark I hear has good reviews)

2.) lightish- a lager (yuengling negro modello, red stripe, corona falls between light and lightish for me)

    3.) Ale (seasonal is good

    4.) Dark- Guinness/bass etc etc
