Hey all. I just wanted to give you a heads up on an issue the husband and I are facing. Because we live in NYC and everything is small space living (unless your rich) we opted to do gift cards for our wedding shower and even encouraged people to do the same for the wedding since we got married in Texas. Well, now we've reached a hiccup in the system. We wanted to get new pots and pans with our gift cards so to make it easy we went to order them online because we don't have a car and it's too big to carry via public transportation. Guess what? The website ONLY ALLOWS two gift cards on a purchase and because all of our cards are in amounts of $50 or less and the pots and pans are $250, that only covers $100 and we have to come up with the rest PLUS shipping and handling. I DON'T THINK SO! Not when I have over $600 in gift cards! So I went to the store to consolidate them. Guess what? THEY DON'T DO THAT EITHER! So now we're having to bribe a friend to get them home.

@Kali - are you sure it wasn't a Linens N Things that went bankrupt? I know all of the ones around here closed, but all of our BB&Bs are still open.

I also tried to use more than two gift cards to order our registry items online and called to get help when I discovered that only two per order were allowed. I was also trying to use my 10% registry completion coupon and take advantage of a free shipping coupon. I was kicking myself a bit because we'd used several larger denomination gift cards at the store that day and so would have been able to complete the online purchase with two cards if I'd used the small denomination cards at the store.

I went to the store to ask for help. I was very happy with the service I got. I was able to use 6 20% one-item coupons, one for each of the items I was purchasing. I was given the free shipping, too. I was worried that I would spend more and ended up spending less. YAY!!

Can you have the store place an order for you for an online only item? I'm currently in the same boat. We got American Express gift cards along with bed bath and beyond gift cards that we'd like to use for a big purchase on their website. I'm wondering if I go to the store will they order for me/ can I pay in the store in order to use all my gift cards?
