Bed Bath and Beyond Registry Updating Issues

Kajohnson81, on August 15, 2016 at 10:49 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

So we are registered at BBB and I had my shower this weekend - only to end up with duplicate, and some time triple quanties of one particular item; also, recevied items that we didn't register for however are now showing up on my registry. How did this occur? How often does the registry update? Also, apparently my registry is found online but not in the store or vice versa? Thoughts.......and finally, what is the return policy if I don't have a gift receipt?

thanks! Happy Wedding planning

Maybe call BBB customer service to ask them?

I also noticed things I didn't register for showing up on my registry. Turns out your guests can buy you gifts and they add them to your registry at check out. It was frustrating for me. As grateful as I am for the gifts. The things that my fiancé and I really wanted and could have used were not bought.

If you got more than one item it most likely happened because the cashier did not make sure the items were taken off your registry. The reason you are seeing items you did not register for is due to other items that were purchased along with gifts from your registry in the same transaction. For some reason their system adds them to a registry. We had a couple like that and just deleted them off. BB&B is awesome about returns/exchanges and we were able to exchange all duplicates with ease.

This happened to me with Walmart. Kind of. Apparently they said my registry wasn't showing up in store... And had no clue how to fix it, but you could see everything online. This caused them to not be able to mark items bought. I was pretty upset they just said well it doesn't work and had no solution.

I've noticed my registry updating with other items occasionally, but like PP said, it's because they'll get added on when someone buys them along with registry items.

Some of the duplicates could be caused by people shopping in the store and others online at the same time. For instance, my mom loves to shop in the store. If she goes in at 9:00 and prints the registry, she has everything available at that moment. She finds the cutting board I want and picks it up. Meanwhile, my friend is shopping online, sees the cutting board available, and buys it. If it's not flagged at the register (and I've never heard of that happening), I'll end up with duplicates.

PPs are right about the non-registry items. You can delete them, but it likely says you requested 0 and received 1 (or however many you got).

If your guests pull your registry up on their phone or look at it at home and buy the item without informing the cashier it's a wedding registry gift. My FMIL did that and we ended up with two Kitchen Aide Mixers at our shower.
