A little background, I'm new to WW and I'm already married but am doing a 2nd ceremony for my family to be involved. We picked 07/16/16 in Treasure Island, FL on the beach. We're originally from FL but I can't remember how hot it actually is during July around 5-6pm. Hubby isn't worried about the heat or rain as much as I am. We are also having an outdoor reception, but a shaded outdoor reception with fans and bug zappers and it has a roof incase of rain Smiley smile Too hot? Or too rainy? Help!

@TaMorey what does the Florida Man thing have anything to do with her question...? And for the record, I see Miami and Jacksonville "Florida Man" stories just as much as Tampa/Clw/St. Pete....

@Chelsea - I adore Sarasota, I went there on a family trip and we rented a pontoon and went island hopping, I ended up swimming near a traveling pod of wild dolphin that were going threw the channel. Most majestic thing to ever happen Smiley smile

OP - Do you need to have it on the beach? I know I really sweet little place in Dade City... Its pretty cheap, easy to book, you can have an outside ceremony and inside reception in the same place?... What part of FL are you thinking?

ETA: Nvm, I see that its your FH dream spot.....Perhaps the Keys? I know its a little cooler down there with the breeze...

@TaMorey I've only been there a few times but it is beautiful! Has a different feel to it than most places in FL.

Trenicia, you just have to decide which is the most important thing to you. You can only pick 2

    1) Beach wedding

    2) Ceremony at 5pm in July in Florida

    3) Guests comfortable

@Chelsea - "Floridaman" doesn't really have anything to do, just a warning to watch out for crazies, but you are right, cocain/bathbomb zombie man happened in Miami if I remember right. Crazy is everywhere.

@Marriane - Clearwater, St.Pete, Tampa area. We really want it on the beach. I don't think that will change. But we are open to having an indoor reception.

I'm confused though. I always went to the beach in July and plenty of theme parks/water parks during high day in the summer so I don't think 30 mins will kill anyone on the beach....

Ugh, that's my worst nightmare. We're doing mid-May in Fort Lauderdale, and we know there's a good change we'll need our indoor backup. Unless you're going to rent giant fans or something, your guests are going to severely suffer.

ETA: you always went to the beach in July, but did you wear a bathing suit or wedding-appropriate clothing? There's a big difference, unless you want your friends and family to don bikinis for your ceremony.

ETA, the remix: @TaMorey, I remember that story... I believe it happened on or under the MacArthur causeway, one of the roads that runs between Miami and Miami Beach.

Trenicia - In those scenarios, people have the ability to jump in the water to cool down. Unless you're planning on providing swim noodles and floats for the guests to watch your ceremony from the ocean?

Okay - So - Near me... 'Kay.... You MIGHT hit a good day, please keep in mind that you were near/in water... Your body was cooling off because you had something to regulate with the heat and you probably were not too effected by the humidity because you were already wet.....

Fred Howard is a decent beach... I think for weddings it's like $100 for the beach.... And then maybe find a cool reception restaurant...Maybe near Tarpon?...

This is not going to be enjoyable for your guests...even if you do an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception. I wouldn't be surprised if some people skip the ceremony. The heat and humidity is brutal in July. Plus, thunderstorms happen almost daily and timing (while usually in the afternoon) is unpredictable. Plus, hurricanes. Plus, mosquitos. You definitely need to have a plan b if you go through with an outdoor ceremony in case it's rainy or too hot and humid. Also, pick a light, breathy wedding dress so you're not super uncomfortable and please let your guests know that it will be outside so they dress appropriately for the weather.

OP here is one of the better Clearwater Packages... The wedding planner will have some more incite to what will work for you....

Thanks for all the advice guys Smiley smile My wedding planner suggested providing fans and cute little umbrellas for the sun. I think we'll do that, and have an indoor reception with AC. Also the ceremony is 20 mins long. So I'm hoping for the best! Now that I'm aware of potential brutal weather, an outdoor reception is definitely out the window!

I think you've gotten good advice here. Count me in the camp who would skip an outdoor wedding in Florida in July. It's just too hot and I can't handle the humidity.

@TaMorey what a bizarre tangent. Miami has its fair share of crazies (all of FL does, as do many other states) so not sure why you're singling out another region of the state.

We'd move the time close to 7 or 8 if needed. I spoke with some of the family, and they said they'd be fine. But yes. I'm glad I came on here to ask first.

Hi i have the same scenario too. And i live in palm beach florida 😑 but anyways im hoping there is no rain at least for the beach ceremony 🙏🏻. July is a really hot month and humid but you can always provide your guests hand fans, and take a cooler with a lot of ice & bottle of waters. Usually ceremony takes 20 mins that wont be too bad. Will see how it goes. Good luck on your wedding.
