Beach cliff wedding in Southern California?

Charlene, on January 2, 2012 at 1:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hello brides and friends!!!

I am looking into getting married in Fall 2012 and I am looking for a beach cliff wedding on sunset. We don't necessarily want to go through a big venue like a hotel, etc. We are just looking for something small and intimate like a park or open area where we can just have a few chairs, etc. However, I have no clue on how to look for such a thing. If anyone can help that will be awesome!!! I'm beginning to stress out finding something! See photo for reference.

I was at one point looking to have the same style wedding in San Diego area and I loved this private estate you can rent. Not sure of your price range but it is gorgeous!

Edit: After looking at the site again, there's no longer any mention of weddings. They used to have it on their site with pictures of weddings that had been held there and pricing for events. Maybe they no longer rent it out for private weddings any longer. I'd email then directly if you are interested.

There are so many parks and beaches in Orange County! Cheap too since they are public parks. My favorite is Pines Park in Dana Point, CA but the city in general has many oceanview park areas to have a wedding. The next city would be Laguna Beach, CA. Be leary of any ministers who say they will file a park permit for you. I've heard of wedding parties having to be kicked off beaches or parks because they didn't have the proper paper work filed by their officiant. It's a responsibilty you should follow up on yourself to avoid any mishaps on your big day - good luck!

    Hi everyone!

Thanks for your responses! I think I found a location after doing a Google search. She is a minister and will help with all the correct permits and licenses, etc.

It is in Dana Point called Sampson Overview. She also told me (just an FYI to everyone!) that Dana Point allows for ceremony chairs, but Laguna does not. They allow up to 95 people standing only. I think for the comfort of my guests I would like the chairs so I'm sticking with Dana Point =)

If you go to the city of Dana Point's website, it shows all the possible overbluff and park sites for weddings. I like Lantern Bay Park for its wide open space, but Sampson is good also.

PS - permits aren't difficult. Its all clearly listed on the website.

Check this site for all info....
