bbw Bride - Searching for Wedding Dress

Kitty, on September 20, 2018 at 9:39 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

Wedding dresses are driving me nuts. I have two barriers to over come! AGE: 54 and being a large woman, we are talking about a size 4x/5x in dresses. Does anyone know where I could find some place that will make dresses this big? I checked out www.eshakti.com, but they don't make "wedding lacy" dresses, I have an idea of what I want to do, but...…… sigh... HELP! I live in northwest Missouri.

Do you have a Davids bridal? Im a plus size 41 year old bride and they had a lot to choose from. The was a girl trying on dresses while I was there and she looked to be about a 5x/6x and she tried in quite a few dress as well.

I called David's bridal to ask about sizes of their dresses, they said nothing above a size 28/30. I don't fit those sizes at all.

I'd get it made custom for you. Between buying a dress and alterations it will prob be the same cost

That's what I am trying to do. Not finding custom seamstress businesses. I wish I was in CA. I know exactly where I would go!

Hi Kitty! Hmm you've got some great feedback in this thread so far.

Have you tried searching in neighboring bigger cities, near where you are in northwest Missouri? Omaha, Kansas City, or Des Moines might have some boutiques and bridal stores worth the drive, so that way you can try dresses on in-person, if you're worried about ordering your dress online.

That's what I'm doing too. The price is worth it! I'm looking forward to getting 2 dresses, one for the ceremony and the other for traveling for honeymoon. It will just be a plan white one. I think it was Quincy Dress with long sleeved and boat next.

Hi there, fellow plus-sized bride here! I fortunately had a lovely bridal boutique here in LA that caters only to brides sized 14 - 32. A flight out to LA may be out of the question for you, but some of the designers the bridal boutique featured were: Essence of Australia (that's the designer of my dress which I love so much), Allure Bridals, WTOO, Stella York, and Watters Brides.

All of these designers have gorgeous gowns in all shapes (Ballgown, A-Line, Mermaid, etc.) and gowns using different fabrics (lace, satin, tulle, etc.). I would recommend googling the dresses each of these designers offer Smiley smile

Good luck! I'm sure you'll find a gorgeous gown for your special day!
