Curious if you guys think BBQ at a Texas wedding is tacky. I currently live in NYC but am from the Dallas area so I would like to have a Texas wedding. Since most people will be traveling to Texas making this a destination wedding I want the venue and theme to be Texas vs. just another ballroom wedding. I have a soft hold on a barn venue right now until I can get back to Texas next month to view it but what do you think about BBQ for dinner? I was thinking we would have apps and some action stations followed by BBQ (I plan on renting real plates, silver ware, cups, etc) and not using plastic to make it a little more upscale! I also want to rent a food truck for a midnight snack. Any thoughts are appreciated!

Sounds good to me. I love BBQ and I think it fits with the wedding being in Texas.

As a fellow native Texan (Dallas too!) I don't think it's tacky. Most of the catering I've seen around here is BBQ.

I, personally, hate BBQ and sweet tea (gasp!) and will avoid both like a plague.

If there's a chicken option I'm good, and I'll go to town on all the fixins!

I see it more for a casual wedding since it can be a little messy.

I don't think BBQ in any state is tacky. I think it needs to go with the vibe though. It would look out of place at a black tie wedding. But I'd never turn up my nose at BBQ. My best friend had it at her wedding and it's still the best wedding meal I've ever had, including my own and mine was pretty damn good

We are getting married in Texas and are 90% sure that we are having BBQ for our reception. We will have vegetarian options as well.
