I must admit the wedding planning has been stressful (simply BC i can't decide on exactly what i want). We have cut down on our guest list and would should very well fall under 200.. YAY. However, we are planning to cut cost on food amongst other things . Along with the wedding cake a close friend will be baking old traditional southern desserts. Mini Strawberry cobblers, cheesecakes, mini sweet potato pies, etc. The plan is to have a fun, relaxed and party feel during our reception. I hate attending weddings and the receptions were you feel that you have to sit straight not cough or anything. Would it be bad to serve BBQ style food? With the pricing we're looking at no more than $15.00 pp.

Any success or horror stories from past events?

Location, guys, location. $15/pp isn't uncommon in my area, especially for catered BBQ.

I paid $22/pp for my full meal buffet.

Personally, my only fear of doing bbq would be how messy it is. My dress would for sure be stained by the end of the night.

That being said, it IS delicious and so affordable! I say go for it!

@Jessica that's why our second meat option was chicken. I didn't want to eat something that was "messy" and possibly stain my dress. Although I ended up not being able to eat because people kept approaching the king's table and talking to us lol. I was also on an adrenaline high that day and for like 3 days following the wedding.

@Jessica I've had that thought as well but I'll just ask for an extra napkin and tuck it in the neckline of my dress! lol!

@Kristy so funny! We are Canadian and doing BBQ. Hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad...beer and red solo cups. Our guests are expecting a wedding themed bbq. Everyone's pretty excited about it!

BBQ is a great way to go. Not sure where you are located but no way would you find any catering for $15/pp near me.

I love BBQ! It's one of my favorites! Definitely consider your vision for the wedding before picking food. I went to a very elegant wedding and they served BBQ. I mean tea lights on the table in Mercury glasses and large, expensive floral center pieces, lights down way low. It didn't have the right atmosphere/mood for BBQ.
