Bathroom basket medication.

Amanda, on June 5, 2019 at 11:18 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12
I love the idea of a bathroom basket that I’ve seen- I was thinking it might be nice to have some painkillers on hand, but I don’t love the idea of leaving them out unattended (kids). I was thinking of including a little sign of something to the effect that we have painkillers and tums and to ask the wedding coordinator (or if she’s not willing to dispense, my mom). I’m not sure if even that’s a great idea, though? Thoughts? Thanks!

I would just skip it. Your mom and coordinator have more important things to do at your wedding than hand out tums. As a guest, I would never hunt down the mother of the bride to help with my heartburn.

Either skip it or get the little pre packaged ones. I cant even open them half of the time lol. I'm sure a lot of people will have them on hand anyways so if someone needs something they can ask around.

I'd skip them. People carry this stuff with them, someone else will have some to borrow I'm sure. Your mom will be very busy, as will your coordinator.

I would skip it. But I have heard of people giving their guests as a favor some hangover kits and it would probably include that.
If anyone needed painkillers they can ask for them from the coordinator

I am skipping them for that reason. It's not safe for the bathroom basket and it's really not that necessary. If someone is prone to headaches when they drink or cry or someone usually has an upset stomach they will know to bring their own for their own purposes.

I hadn't thought of this! For our wedding, we have a few kids in attendance but none old enough to reach onto a countertop into the basket.

I disagree! Isn't the point of the bathroom basket to provide little conveniences guests may not have wanted to carry or anticipated needing (deodorant, tampons, mouthwash, gum, mints, bobby pins, lotion, etc.)? As someone who often gets headaches and heartburn, I have both of these things in my car, but would LOVE to not have to run out to grab them because they were thoughtfully provided.

Hopefully, the littles will be accompanied by their parents in the bathroom. And the painkillers at least will have childproof caps for the slightly older kids.

Another option would be to put them on the bar, which is typically up higher out of the way of small, grabby hands but still in a convenient place for guests.

I agree I think it's a great idea! And most ibuprofen has the child proof lids.

I Would skip it. Not sure how much I love the idea of being responsible for dispensing medications to people especially if they might be drinking. If someone knows that they usually get pains, they should carry their meds with them. There are too many things that could go wrong in my opinion (med counter indications, med interactions, etc). Maybe I'm overthinking this but from a nurse's perspective I wouldn't do it for the liability.
