Bars instead of reception

Are you hosting everyone at the bars? DW are a huge expense for guests (I had one). I couldn't imagine inviting guests and then not hosting them for the duration of the night.

We're doing a destination wedding too with no reception. We were thinking about a dinner reservation somewhere as well. I haven't heard of anyone ever going to the bar but still sounds like a hell of a good time!

You may want to refer to the dinner as your “reception” and then go to the bars as an informal afterparty. That would mean obviously you would have to host and pay for your guests at dinner, but would eliminate the responsibility of you having to pay for everyone at the bars.

I agree with this! Our reception ends at 9 and we plan on going out to a bar after.

Sounds like a fun time! Are there a strip of bars you can go hopping around, or is it better to get transportation/a bus to shuttle your guests around? The only issue I foresee is if people aren't under age or don't like alcohol or are older it could be a bit chaotic. But if it's just with a close group of friends why not! I always wanted to take my dress out on the town.
