Barn wedding w/o "rustic-chic".. Any ideas?

Hi all Hoping to have my reception at a Civil War era barn in Gettysburg, Pa.... I do not like the "rustic-chic" trend at all (burlap, lace, jars, sunflowers, tree stumps, you know) Would love to hear any creative ideas for a theme/style and decor that aren't that?

I don't know either Ashlee! But I think the Victorian idea would go best with what you guys plan. Plus it goes really well with what you guys do. I love history, so I was thinking of doing something along the same lines, but b&bs are too expensive where I am.

Well, if we have to do plan B it's going to be super small (like just parents and siblings). We live more than an hour away, so I doubt anyone would go haha. We were engaged at the Brafferton. If we were to get married there, I was thinking either there or at the Brickhouse or something. I'm not sure, there's so many and I really didn't look into it too much. There's probably some good ones that aren't directly in town too. Which one are you having it at?

If I could, I'd zap everyone there and just have my wedding there. We love

    Gettysburg.

As for the mustache trend. I love a man with a mustache, but I do not understand the current obsession. LOL!

I'll have to look into those. Have you heard of battlefield b&b? I'd like it there so far, from viewing online.

We are set on gettysburg, but my fam is not. It's more significant to us than a banquet hall full of people we don't know. So we figure if they want to see us get married, they will come.

If you were getting married near Vermont I would know the perfect place for your to get tons of vintage stuff, but alas, you are not! (kidding! Gettysburg sounds perfect!)

To go with the vintage feel, you could look into vintage teacups or various items incorporated in your centerpieces or decor.

Here's a website for ideas about what kinds of vintage stuff is out there:

The Brafferton and Brickhouse are right in town, and have small gardens. But no barns or anything.

The battlefield b&b does look super nice. Probably over my budget personally though, unfortunately. That's why if I have it at a b&b there it will probably have to be just a few family members.

I will say there are probably better places to get married at there than the Brafferton, only because it's pretty small (although cute). However, the owners are amazing and will most likely jump through hoops for you. My fiance planned everything with them and they were super nice and played along with my fiance's ideas.
