Has anyone had a barefoot wedding in a church or is that just too weird?

It's a little odd to not wear shoes in church. Why do you want a barefoot wedding?

    I don't think that's appropriate for a church really...

Two reasons: 1) FH loves my feet. I love to go barefoot whenever I can 2) I had major reconstructive surgery on my ankle over the summer. I currently can only wear tennis shoes. It is likely that I will still be recovering, so I don't know that wearing heels or flats will be an option.

Go with tennis shoes then!! Or maybe do an outdoor beach wedding?

@KSera... haha no real beaches in Indiana. We already have our venues booked as well. My heart isn't set on a barefoot wedding, just not sure what all my options will be.

My dress is currently too long and needs to be hemmed. I can have it cover my feet if need be.

I can't even imagine the germs on the floor! You could do Toms, Keds, Converses, or Vans!

I don't think it's appropriate for a church. At least a nice pair of sandals.

Nothing wrong with not having shoes. I'm Greek Orthodox and my church actually makes everyone take their shoes off at the door. Don't forget it's YOUR day, YOUR money, YOUR RULES. Only rules that should matter. Plus your dress will cover it up.

I'm a pastor, if a couple wanted to get married with no shoes I wouldn't care. To each their own.

See what rules your church has... if going barefoot is allowed, Etsy has beautiful foot jewelry you can wear. Otherwise, try going to your local dance/ gymnastics attire store and getting some white flats.

Or maybe you can have a runner rolled out just before you walk down... maybe even get some nude socks (like the ones you'd wear in flats) definitely find out your church rules and go from there... if you can go barefooted, definitely look into some nice foot jewelry.

I got married in ballet flats that I ordered from etsy which felt like I was barefoot. They were custom made to my measurements. I don't remember the name of the store, but I'm sure if you search wedding ballet flats you can find options.

How about roll up flats? They feel like you're barefoot! I have a few colors of these: https://www.amazon.com/Sidekicks-Womens-Foldable-Ballet-Carrying/dp/B006X40Y6W

I would ask your pastor. If he says it is ok then do it.

If your dress is long enough, no one even needs to know you don't have shoes on. If they can tell you are barefoot, hands down, it will look strange. It just will, unless you are outdoors with a boho vibe or on a beach.

If you wear shoes in a normal day, to work, etc then why can't you wear some for your wedding ceremony? There are thousands of pretty, comfortable shoes.

As someone who had surgery last Christmas on their foot and ankle I completely understand. I'm almost to a year and I can still only stand to wear tennis shoes. Most flats or even keds/converse hurt my foot and makes my ankle swell. I feel your pain cause the wrong shoe will make my ankle swell twice it's size. I bought Sperrys for my wedding and can't even wear them for 5 mins without being in pain. If your church allows it go barefoot and if your worried about germs I second the idea of nude socks. I'm personally going barefoot on the beach now and giving my beautiful Sperrys to my mother for her trip to Mexico.
