Band for Reception - NJ

Sara, on October 12, 2016 at 3:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

Hi All,

I'm looking for a band to book for my reception - what was the average cost of anyone else that's booked a band? and if you're in NJ and love yours, send me their names!

Thanks!

The price is going to depend on the size.

My fave comes from Elegant Ensembles; ask for Mark Eliasof, who is a musician himself. Tell him I sent ya! You can find him here.

My other fave is The Infernos. It's a huge band though.

Depends on how big the band is. I used jacklyn Duncan music and was able to select the musicians I wanted (I had a violin cello duo). Which for em was perfect.

I hired them for ceremony only and for a single musician you're looking for 200 to 400 for roughly an hour of work.

We're using EBE Entertainment - they have a lot of options in terms of style of bands and budgets. We picked Monte Carlo because they were within the budget and we liked their music/style the best.

I believe the estimate was between $9500 and $10500 for the band. My parents are paying for them, as my family is big into music and they were very insistent on not wanting a DJ (which was fine with us because who doesn't love live music!).

They're in the Philadelphia area but the bands are based all over, so I'm sure they have options. Just give them an email; the manager is super responsive.

We used www.bvtlive.com - they travel all over. The cheapest band we saw - a few years ago, was $6500 for 9 pieces. We chose an 11 piece for $8500. They also have DJs, Fusion, strings - just about anything you'd want.

Unlike another booking company, in our area, their bands are not overly loud. We've been to two weddings, with another company, and we thought our skulls would explode. The sound level was more appropriate for an arena venue and the instruments drowned out the vocalists.

Check out thumbtack, I'm in lower NY, but I'm getting quotes from bands in NJ, all under $3000. ETA, also to add, they have samples of their work and they sound great, still want to see them live though...
