Red flag. FH has tipped poorly before and we had a discussion about it (I used to be a server). He doesn't like that servers expect 20% even for crappy service, which I agree with. We nearly always leave 20%, no less than 10% for awful service, and very VERY rarely don't tip, the service would have to be atrocious.

Not a deal breaker, especially if he's paying We each work hard for our money, and who am I to dictate your finances? However, if I thought the service deserved more and I had some cash to spare I might leave some on the table.

Red flag- My FH and his family are terrible tippers (I come from the service industry) I cant tip bad even if my service was crap. I guess it balances out but when its FH and I only he always asks me if hes tipping appropriately. I guess it depends on what is causing the bad tipping. Poor service? okay. Was it something the server could control? no? not worth a bad tip. Yes? Yeah probably adjust the tip to the lower side. I have never not tipped or tipped less than 15% EVER though.

I tip according to service. I am a 20% tipper but it goes up or down according to attitude and service. If you make me wait more than 5 minutes after I get to the table to even acknowledge me and then have an attitude when you get there, your tip went down. If you come to the table within 5 minutes with a great attitude and continue to check on me, your tip goes up.

Lol....my fiancé and are totally different on this. I feel he tips way too much, as I either don't or tip just the required amount. Money is tight and I cannot afford to give it away...sorry

I’ve stopped all communication with someone because of their tipping habits. There is no excuse to tip a server poorly. To feint ignorance is just so blatantly disrespectful.

This!!! Yes!!! You don’t need to tip your grocery store cashier, because they make minimum wage. So just cook at home! Some servers are making $2 an hour in some states in the US... there is no excuse for poor tipping.

Why is taking money out of someone’s check funny to you? Especially if your partner already agreed to the amount? If you don’t want to pay for being serviced at a table, then go to a fast food joint when you go out to eat.

💪🏻 2.13 is an unlivable wage. Used to be a server and so did my fiancé, how we met! Both agree strongly on this!! Glad to see so many people that agree. If they don’t they've never worked for tips.

I think you are looking at my comment wrong. Yes, I think it is funny but what I think is funny is that FH is usually always tight with money and I am usually not. So it is funny to me that the roles on this one thing are reversed.

I tip based off of how the server provides a service. If it is a good server and very attentive I always tip very well and if a server isn't super attentive but you can truly see their slammed and are still trying their best I still tip very well. However if it is a server that neglects the table because they are back on their phone looking at social media, chatting up with friends or has an attitude towards us from the first hello, then obviously I will tip less. To give you an example this weekend we went out to eat, 4 of us, the bill came to $60 she was slammed but she was still so sweet and amazing, I tipped $25, seriously she was amazing!!! So before you judge anyone maybe realize that what their saying may not be exactly what you may think in your own mind.

Red flag. Being a bad tipper is an indication of an unappreciative person (unless they are financially unable to do so).

Doesn't bother me, as we don't tip in England or Ireland. Smiley tongue
