Bad Experience with Wedding Planner - Should i Still Tag on Social Media?

I did not have a good experience on the day of my wedding from my planner. I spent $3,600 for month of planning. She showed up to the wedding with one assistant to the shock of my friends who spent $2-2500 for month of planning. Their planners showed up with 2-3 assistants on their wedding day!...

She showed up to the wedding with one assistant to the shock of my friends who spent $2-2500 for month of planning. Their planners showed up with 2-3 assistants on their wedding day! Long story short my wedding is going to be featured in Martha Stewart Weddings online. I will post on my social media, but is it petty to not tag her in my posts? The only issue is she know all the other vendors including my photographer. Personally I would not recommend my planner to anyone. I truly felt she took advantage of my "nice nature" and to put salt in the wound I tipped her $500 (I placed her tip in an envelope the morning of the wedding) and bought her baby gifts for her and her biz partner since they both gave birth earlier this year.

Hi Liza, Thank you for being unbiased. You got me. Its just service and whether I paid $2K or $10K, I didn't get the service I thought she would provide. She does weddings from $50-$150K so mine wasn't the most expensive. But to clarify I am 100% listing her on Martha's Wedding in my online feature. I just wasn't sure if I should list her on my personal social media. In the the end our wedding was beautiful- thank you!!!

She will be mentioned in Martha Stewart but I don't have to tag her in my social media (not in contract). Definitely a learning experience for sure! And thank you for your support! You are so sweet and understanding!

A few questions. 1) how big was your wedding? 2) Did you talk with your planner about your discomforts before hand? 3) Did you tell her what you expected before the big day? 4) Was everything else the way you wanted? Sometimes two people can be more efficient than three to four.

Since it is just on your personal social media, you definitely don't have to. You already listed her on Martha Stewart Weddings, so that is plenty of exposure right there. I'm glad besides that your day was great! Smiley smile

It's 50% choosing a certain style of your wedding, picking the right florist, dress, venue and all those little details and 50% your photographer, because you can have the most beautiful venue and details but if you photographer has never submitted for MS, Brides or StyleMePretty, most likely you won't get the feature. Mine just sent 40 photos in a dropbox link and 2 weeks later the editor confirmed they would like to feature me. I learned they tend to gravitate to photographers they worked with in the past since they have a specific style they like. My wedding will be featured online not in the print Smiley smile If you PM I'm happy to share with you more details. Have you picked your photographer yet?

Thanks for your feedback!! Yes, great exposure for her. Hopefully she just had a one off. Leading to the wedding she was fine and the wedding weekend, she didn't seem on her A game.

This is something I had been wondering. You paid her for month-of services and you say she was fine for 29 out of those 30 days. You have every right to not be happy with what you received, but I would be very careful with any negative reviews you leave that you don't admit that you were only unhappy with 1/30th of the services received.

Oh! That makes sense then. You do not need to promote her on your personal accounts if you really wouldn't recommend her to a friend. Its not the same as photos which you would have to credit to the photographer. Smiley smile

People are like she didn't ruin your wedding but when things went wrong, I just let it go (and took big gulps of champagne) on the day of my wedding. Thanks for getting it! When's your big day?

I wouldn't post a negative review unless she was extremely offensive like yelled at my mother or a guests (which she didn't); however, it's all about the day of your wedding. Your planner could be great leading into the wedding but if the day of, if she isn't doing a good job it doesn't matter how "nice she was" before. If your day is coming up, I hope your planner (whether full wedding planning or just a day of coordinator) does a good job and makes sure there is no hiccups. You just want the day to run smoothly. I guess different perspectives come from different expectations (I am grateful to have a really nice wedding thanks to my parents and my husband).

On social media? Oh! That’s all. Well it’s your account, so feel free to do whatever. But I don’t see the harm in tagging her (and really no harm if you didn’t).
