I am annoyed. Livid, actually.

So, I have four bridesmaids. When I offered them the role of bridesmaids, we had a cute little party out of it but I also typed out a contract for them to sign. Nothing serious, but just basically that they would adhere to certain duties: contributing financially, helping with decorations and the like. Small things. I had each sign and date a contract, I laminated each one and put them in their own folder. Unbeknownst to them, I also kept a notepad in each one of their folders to note to myself how they were performing as bridesmaids individually. I would liken it to an "HR" type thing. And I decided that I would have an individual meeting with each one to discuss how I felt they were performing as bridesmaids.

One of the stipulations in the contract they signed, was that nobody was to get engaged or begin a new relationship in the 5 month time-frame we were planning my wedding. Well what do you know? One girl met someone new. They have propelled forward pretty fast and I am just livid about. I reminded her of the contract she signed stipulating that she would not get involved with someone new and she needs to break it off or I will take her to a court of law (I am a notary and notarized the contract). She basically laughed in my face and told me I was insane and has backed out of the wedding. I cannot believe this crap! I did not want new relationships because I felt I deserved the spotlight and attention. I did not want my happy-times overshadowed by someone cutting me off at brunch talking about their new date.

I am scheduling the Bridesmaid review with the remaining three girls, who are doing OK I guess, but I don't feel they are giving me their best. I want A+ effort, but it seems I am not a priority in their life. Your career, kids, husband etc will always be there but my wedding is once in a lifetime and I feel it should be main priority for at least this year.

I just needed to vent. Thanks.

This is a joke, right?! 😂😂 thanks for the laugh, planning a wedding can get stressful! But the important thing to remember is that you can’t control the actions of other people—contract or not. Would you put your love life on hold for several months for a friend’s wedding?

Umm hoping that this is fake.
But it doesn’t matter if you are a notary you cannot notarize your own contract. So the “contracts” are pretty much as fake as this post.

I agree. Why wouldn't you want your bridesmaids to be happy?

    🤣🤣🤣🤣 thanks for the laugh.

Really your best bet for stopping your NEAREST AND DEAREST FRIENDS AND FAMILY from living their lives during your engagement is to lock them in a dungeon. Short of an isolation chamber, they’re going to be out and about wilding around , creating relationships (or getting pregnant— god forbid!!), meeting other people, getting distracted with jobs and obligations.

What, pray tell was their signing bonus you paid them when y’all signed your contracts ?

Is this a joke? I seriously can’t tell.

Being a bridesmaid is not a job! What the heck?? Is this actually how you treat your friends and you expect them to stay friends with you.....? You’re treating your friends like employees just because you’re getting married. How do you NOT see this is crazy.....?

It was my first day back to school and needed this laugh.

Next, Lisa will claim to be the prince of Nigeria and needs our bank account info to transfer money.

I just want to keep track of how hard Lisa is going to try to convince us this is real because it's pretty darn funny. Continue 🍿

Yeah if we don’t see the contract (with names and identifying info redacted) how are we to trust this is real? As a BM I would have immediately been on Reddit spreading the news of the lovely not-in-anyway binding contract.

It’s fantastic you’re a notary but you must know that contract is in no way enforceable. Also shout-out to your friend and her new beau. So great for them ❤️❤️

Your contract is not legally binding. There is no consideration (what are the bridesmaids getting out of this in exchange for their money and labor?)

On the off chance that you're not a troll and really did all of this, I encourage you to take this to court. You'll lose your notary license and if you're lucky you'll get off with just the hefty fine and no prison time. You swore an oath and that included following the rules - one of which is that you will not notarize anything that would benefit you in any way.
