My fiancé and I finally got a decision that we are doing our Wedding Reception at his parents property/backyard and now I am into the point of not knowing how to proceed. We came to this decision, what should I do now? I would like to our wedding ceremony to be in a Catholic church and afterwards we would be heading to his parents… what should I start buying? I already have everything ready to rent…. Tent, tables, chair, linens etc… but everything else, I am not sure… Our wedding will probably be next year but still with a possibility of being this year… I didn’t bought anything yet. Help!

First things first- Set a date!
From there I would sit down and set a bunch for the wedding. The budget tool on WW is actually super helpful. Then you can decide on your colors and start looking on pinterest for decor inspiration.

If you’re wanting to get married in the Catholic Church, I’d start there. Churches can book up months/years in advance if you’re in a popular area and they will also require some kind of pre-Cana which may need to be scheduled in advance. It will be easier to find vendors for your reception once you nail down a date with your church.

Set a date, work with the church to schedule, then you can start booking other vendors (photographer, video if wanted, DJ/Music, catering), looking at dresses, figure out if you're going to DIY, rent or pay for florals/decor.

I am having a backyard wedding in October and didn't start "buying" anything until I had all my vendors confirmed. You should only have to buy things that you cannot rent or your vendors will not provide, so get your date & all vendors first.
