Bachelorette party for a bride who doesn't want one AND I have to plan it. Seriously?!

Hello all! The women in my family have been pressuring me into having a bridal shower and/or bachelorette party. My fiance and I decided that we do not want to have a shower because we are pretty well established and do not want our loved ones and guests buying us gifts. Also, we are having a destination wedding so we already feel honored that they will be traveling to join us. Even after explaining all of this to the women in my family, they are still putting on the pressure for a shower/party.

Well, I have finally given in to their requests and agreed to have a bachelorette party. And now they are expecting ME to plan and organize everything! What bride wants to throw their own bachelorette party? Especially one who didn't want to do it in the first place!

Have any of you experienced this or something similar with your planning? It is driving me crazy!

Oh wow. Just tell them if they want you to have one they can plan it!

I somewhat understand where you are coming from, except they are planning it but I am not looking forward to it.

There is a word I like to employ, "no". You need to establish boundaries, do it now. If you decide to have children, it will get worse if you do not have boundaries in place or at least the ability to tell people to back the hell off.

Hahaha. The FIRST comment was mentioning me. I would feel honored, but it's about a disastrous situation. Lol.

If they are saying you have to plan it, and you really don't want one, then just don't plan it. Continue to say that you don't want it, you don't have the time to plan it, and repeat those things. I gave in after months of my older sister begging me to let her throw me a shower. She said she would take care of everything. Well, every step of the way she made me plan it and yelled at me. So I FINALLY stood up and said no. Well, it's 3 months out and we are trying to find a place to hold up to 40 people for the shower. So my MOH is doing her best, but it's a lot of work finding a place. I feel guilty because had I stood up to them in the first place and not faltered to them, my MOH would have been able to plan it at the place I wanted and it would be significantly less stress. Any time they mention the party, just say "I do not want to have one" and change the subject immediately before they can respond. And if they respond that you MUST have a party, say "No" and change the subject again. They can't come to a party that isn't planned! Hahaha. Good luck. I know what it's like.

Thanks @Pancakes! I gave in, picked a place, time, and location and now it's up to them to do the rest. And if they fall through well I'll just have a kick ass time without them!

Oh and @pancakes, you picked an amazing date for your wedding. It's on my birthday!
